Full Job Description

This role requires a full-time, in-office presence at the designated AT&T work location (five days per week) to support leadership collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and business objectives.

Overview: AT&T is changing how America connects at home. We're expanding our fiber footprint, scaling AT&T Internet Air (AiA) as a fast, wireless home internet option, and moving customers off legacy copper networks onto better technology. Each of these moves depends on sharp, timely decisions about where to build, whom to target, how to price, and how to keep customers satisfied.

As Director of Advanced Analytics for Consumer Broadband, you'll lead the team that turns data into those decisions. You'll own the analytics and data science agenda across the full broadband portfolio (Fiber, AiA and copper) and partner with Marketing, Finance, Network, Sales, Customer Care and Product leaders to grow subscribers, cut churn, improve unit economics and deliver a smooth migration from copper. This is a senior, highly visible role with a direct line to executive decision-making and measurable impact on one of AT&T's most important growth engines.

Why This Role Matters

Consumer Broadband sits at a turning point. Three products with very different economics and customer journeys must be managed as one portfolio:

  • Fiber is our flagship growth product, where build prioritization, penetration and speed-tier mix drive long-term returns.
  • AT&T Internet Air extends broadband to customers outside the fiber footprint and depends on smart capacity management and careful eligibility decisions.
  • Copper customers need a thoughtful path to next-generation technology that protects the customer relationship and the revenue base while network costs come down.We need a leader who can see across all three, build a unified view of the broadband customer, and bring rigor, speed and business judgment to our biggest bets.

Key Goals (First 12–18 Months)

  • Build a unified broadband analytics foundation. Create a single, trusted view of households, addresses, eligibility, subscribers and performance across Fiber, AiA and copper.
  • Accelerate profitable growth. Deliver models and insights that measurably improve fiber penetration, AiA gross adds and convergence (broadband + wireless) attach.
  • Reduce churn and improve customer lifetime value. Deploy predictive churn, save and next-best-action models that drive retention results you can measure.
  • Optimize the copper migration. Build segmentation, propensity and sequencing models that raise migration rates to Fiber or AiA while reducing churn and cost-to-serve.
  • Inform capital and network decisions. Provide market-level demand and return forecasts that shape fiber build priorities and AiA capacity and eligibility decisions.
  • Institutionalize test-and-learn. Set up a rigorous experimentation and measurement practice so offers, pricing and campaigns are judged on true incremental impact.
  • Scale AI responsibly. Move models from prototype to production with strong MLOps, monitoring and governance, and apply generative AI where it creates real value.

Business Needs This Role Will Address

  • A fragmented view of the broadband customer across products, systems and channels
  • Limited visibility into the true incremental impact of promotions, pricing and marketing spend
  • Rising competition from cable, other fiber builders and fixed-wireless providers
  • The need to balance AiA growth against wireless network capacity
  • Complex copper-retirement decisions that affect customers, revenue and regulatory commitments
  • Pressure to connect analytics to capital allocation and hold investments accountable to returns
  • Demand across the business for faster, self-serve insight and fewer one-off requests

Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Set the multi-year analytics and data science roadmap for Consumer Broadband, aligned with business priorities and enterprise data strategy.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, translating complex analysis into clear recommendations and business cases.
  • Prioritize a portfolio of analytics work based on value, feasibility and strategic fit, and report on its financial impact.
  • Represent broadband analytics in executive forums, operating reviews and planning cycles.

Growth, Acquisition & Marketing Analytics

  • Develop propensity, look-alike and segmentation models to target high-value prospects within the fiber and AiA footprints.
  • Lead marketing mix modeling, multi-touch attribution and channel optimization across digital, retail, door-to-door and partner channels.
  • Analyze offers, promotions, bundles and pricing to optimize gross adds, ARPU and payback.
  • Build convergence analytics that identify and grow households with both broadband and wireless.

Customer Lifecycle, Retention & Experience

  • Build and operationalize churn prediction, save offer optimization and next-best-action models.
  • Measure customer lifetime value by product, segment, market and acquisition channel.
  • Link network performance, installation and service quality, and care interactions to satisfaction and churn outcomes.
  • Partner with Care and Digital teams to identify friction in the customer journey and quantify the value of fixing it.

Fiber Build & Footprint Analytics

  • Forecast demand and penetration curves at the market, wire-center and address level to inform build prioritization.
  • Model the return on fiber investment and track actual performance against the business case.
  • Deliver competitive intelligence on overbuild, market share and competitor activity.

AT&T Internet Air Analytics

  • Build eligibility, capacity and demand models with Network partners to balance AiA growth against wireless network performance.
  • Analyze AiA customer experience, usage patterns and retention, including migration paths to fiber as the footprint grows.
  • Identify the markets and segments where AiA delivers the strongest economics.

Copper Migration Analytics

  • Segment the copper base by migration readiness, value, risk and technology options available at each location.
  • Build propensity and sequencing models to guide outreach, offers and timing for migration to Fiber or AiA.
  • Track migration outcomes, churn, revenue retention and cost savings, and report progress to leadership.
  • Partner with Legal, Regulatory and Network teams to ensure analytics support compliant, customer-friendly transitions.

Experimentation & Measurement

  • Build and lead an enterprise-grade testing practice (A/B tests, geo experiments, holdouts and causal inference methods).
  • Set standards for measuring incremental impact and ensure major initiatives have credible measurement plans.

Data, Platforms & Operationalization

  • Partner with Data Engineering and Technology to build scalable, well-governed data assets and feature stores.
  • Drive model deployment, monitoring and retraining through strong MLOps practices.
  • Deliver executive dashboards and self-service tools that give leaders timely, consistent KPIs.
  • Champion data quality, privacy and responsible AI in line with company policy and regulatory requirements.

Team Development

  • Lead, hire and develop a high-performing team of analytics managers, data scientists and analysts.
  • Build a culture of curiosity, rigor, accountability and business impact.
  • Coach team members on technical depth, storytelling and stakeholder management, and build strong succession.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research or a related quantitative field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in analytics, data science or decision science, including 5+ years leading teams and managers.

  • Deep expertise in predictive modeling, machine learning, segmentation, forecasting and experimental design.
  • Hands-on command of modern analytics tools such as Python, SQL and cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, AWS or GCP).
  • Experience with BI and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Outstanding executive communication skills, with the ability to turn complex analysis into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders across Marketing, Finance, Network and Operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline; MBA a plus.
  • Experience in telecommunications, broadband, cable, wireless or another subscription-based consumer business.
  • Familiarity with fiber build economics, fixed-wireless access, network capacity planning or legacy network migrations.
  • Experience with causal inference, marketing mix modeling, uplift modeling and geospatial analytics.
  • Experience deploying models to production at scale using MLOps practices.
  • Exposure to generative AI and large language model applications in customer, marketing or operations settings.
  • Experience working in a large, matrixed enterprise through major transformation.

  • Strategic thinking: Sees across products and connects today's analysis to long-term strategy.
  • Influence without authority: Builds trust and drives decisions across functions and levels.
  • Bias for action: Moves quickly, prioritizes ruthlessly and balances rigor with speed.
