Job DescriptionThe AMS product line is looking for an experienced, self-motivated Portfolio Chief Engineer (PCE) to support a collaborative approach to the design and implementation of Data and Analytics Systems capabilities. The Data & Analytic Solutions (DAS) group delivers cutting-edge big data content management, data-driven analytics, and multiple security domain software platforms that enable mission-critical decision making for our IC and DOW customers.
The PCE works on behalf of the Product Line Technical Director and is a key partner to the Portfolio Engineering Lead and Program Area Director for a program area of the product line, carrying the AMS Technical Director's technology roadmap vision into the Portfolio. The PCE focuses on working directly with customers, end users and development engineers to conceptualize, architect and present solutions that solve the toughest mission needs. We are seeking candidates with real-world experience in large-scale information and analytics solutions. The PCE plays a key role as the interface between the end customer and the development team to ensure that the delivered product meets or exceeds the users' needs. The PCE is a partner with program area leadership and is a key contributor for new business opportunities aligned to the program area growth strategy. Experience capturing new business, working with customers, and supporting proposals enables the PCE to assist in carrying out the program area's new business vision.
In this role the PCE will:
- Support generation of the Product Line Technical Director technology roadmap and strategy
- Work with the Portfolio Engineering Lead, Program Area Director, Technical SMEs, and other business leaders to generate the portfolio technology roadmap
- Identify and develop unique technical ideas, architectures, and solutions to customer problems. Directly create and guide others in creating intellectual property, potentially to include patents and trade secrets
- Define, lead, and contribute directly to internal research and development (IRaD) efforts relevant to the Program Area
- Perform technical opportunity analysis and design, perform trade studies, and provide initial solution analysis supporting new opportunities.
- Utilize new business capture, solution design, and development experience to engage with government stakeholders, system architects, and developers to provide program area solutions.
- Support programs as a Chief Engineer/Chief Architect as needed.
- Ensure Architecture Review Boards are completed for Program Area opportunities.
- Ensure the leveraged technology product roadmap strategy is implemented for programs in the portfolio.
- Provide architecture and technology insertion guidance to Program Engineering Managers (PEMs)
- Collaborate with PCEs, PELs and Technical Chief Engineers across the AMS product line to achieve business outcomes through technology disruption and leveraged solutions
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
Required Skills and Education- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in engineering related discipline with 12+ years of experience.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to interface with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters, often requiring coordination between organizations
- Demonstrated strong technical writing skills
- Active/current Top Secret/SCI clearance
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills which facilitate working with others in a team environment
Preferred Skills and Education- Experience developing proposals, ECPs, and whitepapers focused on new business.
- Experience with gen AI tools and concepts, such as LLMs, RAG, MCP and skills
- Experience with commercial product management practices
- Experience with customer/stakeholder engagement, communication, management, relationship building, and customer satisfaction
- Experience with Model Based System Engineering or other mature System/Software design processes
- Ability to coordinate, schedule and lead user engagement activities across multiple DoD and IC organizations with minimal oversight and direction
- Exceptional verbal, writing and listening skills: Ability to communicate complex technical solutions across the development and customer environments
- Self-motivator, able to identify gaps and fill business needs
- Willing to travel (up to 20%)
