Overview

GATX is seeking a Senior HRBP Compliance to play a critical leadership role within our HR organization. This position is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering strategic HR initiatives across employee relations, performance management, training, and HR compliance-ensuring alignment with business strategy while maintaining the highest standards of legal and regulatory compliance.

This role serves as a trusted advisor to business unit leaders, providing strategic counsel, practical guidance, and hands-on partnership. The HRBP will ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees, promote positive employee relations, and proactively mitigate risk by ensuring all HR practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with business unit leaders to align HR strategies with business goals while ensuring full legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and manage HR policies, programs, and initiatives that are strategic, data-informed, and legally sound.
  • Promote positive employee relations and address sensitive employee issues professionally, fairly, and in compliance with labor laws and workplace regulations.
  • Coach and support employees and managers on performance, development, and career-related matters, ensuring adherence to performance management standards and regulations.
  • Ensure HR processes-including performance evaluations, promotions, corrective actions, and terminations-comply with all applicable employment laws.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant HR documentation, including employee files, organizational charts, and directories, in accordance with data privacy and protection laws.
  • Monitor evolving employment laws and regulations and recommend updates to HR policies and practices as needed.
  • Partner with business leaders on employee engagement strategies and execution to foster strong, inclusive, and high-performing teams.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the office Receptionist.
  • Report to the Senior Director of Human Resources on compliance-related matters and assist in developing enterprise-wide HR compliance strategies.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 7-15 years of progressive human resources experience, including demonstrated success as an HR Business Partner.
  • Prior people management experience preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of employment and labor laws, HR compliance requirements, and data privacy regulations.
  • Strong ability to coach, influence, and build trusted partnerships with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Professional HR certification, such as PHR or SPHR, preferred.

This is a hybrid position that will require the employee to work in the office at least 3 days a week throughout the year.

As of the post date, the salary range for this position is:

Min

USD $134,800.00/Yr.

Max

USD $197,000.00/Yr.

This role may be eligible to participate in the Company's short-term incentive plan and long-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.

This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs.
