Job SummaryJob Summary:The Communications Director is a key member of the Company K12 School dining team with responsibility for managing the internal and external communication of the organization. We are looking for an outgoing communications expert who is passionate about building a brand through storytelling both internally and externally. The role directs our public relations strategy, social media presence, CEO communications, key recognition programs as well as crisis response. The Communications Director is a key stakeholder in developing our culture through communication as well as furthering our position as an industry innovator.
Key Responsibilities:- Manages company brand and reputation -- elevates Company reputation and visibility in the marketplace
- Develops, implements and manages a comprehensive internal and external communication strategy
- Interfaces with CEO on strategic and regular messaging both internally and externally including monthly communications, town hall formats and new ideas
- Directs public relations agency in implementing media and public relations strategy
- Drives corporate messaging strategy including development and implementation
- Directs social media strategy and new modes of communication and engagement
- Liaises and coordinates content and spokespeople with operations, strategic partners and clients
- Provides communication counsel to senior management
- Develops rich and creative content
- Directs first-level crisis communication with associates, clients and media
- Identifies and submits applications for third party awards and certifications
- Supports sales process through development and maintenance of key client/customer facing messages
- Works with Company communications to ensure appropriate integration and collaboration
- Makes appropriate public appearances
- Requires a high level of analytical and problem solving skills, and must be able to define problems, gather data, establish facts, research possible solutions and draw viable conclusions
Preferred Qualifications:- Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to interact with associates at all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor's degree required with a major in public relations, communications or journalism
- Seven or more years of professional corporate communications/ public relations experience required
- A strategic thinker
- Previous management experience ideal
- Foodservice or education industry experience a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Broad knowledge of social media
- Must be willing to travel as needed
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with a positive, can-do attitude
- Proven ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Senior level presentation, written and verbal communication skills
