Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Digital Software Engineering Lead Analyst is a senior strategic contributor who translates emerging field developments into tangible business direction, operating as a recognized subject matter expert whose counsel shapes how technology and operational decisions are made across teams, functions, and select external partners. Bringing commercial acumen, credibility, and influence to bear, this individual drives significant delivery impact - with outputs that shape the performance trajectory of the broader sub-function.

Core Accountabilities

The role leads end-to-end delivery of complex application development initiatives spanning cross-functional teams and concurrent workstreams, providing strategic direction rather than hands-on execution. This includes owning dependency management across the broader Digital organization to ensure coherent, coordinated application deployment at scale, defining and driving the overarching delivery strategy, and orchestrating internal and external teams toward committed outcomes. The individual engages business and technical stakeholders in structured trade-off conversations that balance effort, timelines, features, and constraints - ensuring decisions are timely and well-informed. Delivery blockers are anticipated and eliminated before they become critical, escalations are handled with precision, and forward momentum is maintained in ambiguous or high-pressure environments. Clear delivery metrics spanning Design Reviews, Code Reviews, CI/CD adoption, and Design Pattern adoption are established and published to provide consistent, real-time transparency into delivery health across all teams.

The Lead Analyst sustains expert-level command of application development methodologies, standards, and best practices. A deep, authoritative understanding of the business domain, systems, and products in scope - encompassing accountabilities, boundaries, limitations, and scale factors - is maintained to interrogate architectural decisions and champion sound long-term technology choices. Teams are guided in building systems that are disciplined in resource consumption, with deliberate attention to hardware, runtime performance, load tolerance, and memory efficiency.

Serving as the primary engineering liaison to TPMs and Engineering Managers, this individual provides early and accurate visibility into schedule risk while exercising influence well beyond the immediate team perimeter to drive continuous improvement and technology adoption across the organization. Stakeholder tension is navigated with confidence - discordant perspectives are surfaced, structured dialogue is facilitated, and durable resolutions are reached. The role demands a high degree of autonomy, generating clarity and momentum even where business or technical strategy remains fluid; product definition and technical planning fall outside its remit.

Rigorous risk assessment is applied across all intake and delivery decisions, with explicit regard for the firm's reputation and the protection of Citigroup, its clients, and its assets. Sound ethical judgment governs all aspects of personal conduct and business practice without exception, and control issues are managed and escalated with full transparency - ensuring they remain visible, tracked, and resolved.

Key Qualifications

The ideal candidate brings a demonstrated track record of leading delivery functions across large-scale or multi-project technology portfolios, paired with deep grounding in application development methodologies including SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall frameworks. Exceptional stakeholder management and communication capabilities are essential, with proven ability to translate complex business requirements into precise system specifications in close partnership with end users and TPMs. A solid command of risk assessment, controls, and regulatory compliance expectations within a complex enterprise environment is equally required.

Recommended Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in an Apps Development role or senior level experience in an Enterprise Architecture role with subject matter expert in one or more areas.
  • Exhibit expertise in all aspects of technology by understanding broader patterns and techniques as they apply to Citi's internal and external cloud platforms (AWS, PCF, Akamai)
  • Lead resources and serve as a functional SME across the company through advanced knowledge of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, networking, use of knowledge and experience to lead, architect, and drive broader adoption forward.
  • Acquire relevant technology and financial industry skills (AWS PWS) and understand all aspects of NGA technology - including innovative approaches and new opportunities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge on automating code quality, code performance, unit testing, and build processing in the CI/CD.

Education:
  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
