Job DescriptionThe Digital Hardware Engineer V serves as a technical leader responsible for the architecture, design, integration, and verification of advanced high-reliability digital hardware for aerospace and defense applications. This role provides technical leadership across multiple programs, establishes engineering best practices, mentors engineering teams, and serves as a recognized subject matter expert for complex digital hardware systems.
Responsibilities- Lead digital hardware development from concept, architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, verification, qualification, production release, and sustaining engineering.
- Act as the technical design authority for complex product development projects.
- Identify and resolve complex hardware issues during development and post-production.
- Work with software teams, firmware teams, manufacturing teams, and other engineers to integrate hardware and software solutions.
- Create detailed documentation for designs, testing procedures, and other relevant information.
- Optimize designs for performance, reliability, and cost.
- Mentor engineers across multiple experience levels.
- Lead Design Reviews
QualificationsEducation & Experience:
- Electrical (Bachelor's degree) or Computer Engineering (Bachelor's degree)
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience in a specialized functional discipline. OR (14) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree. OR (7) years of experience may be considered w/ a Masters Degree. OR (5) years of experience may be considered w/ a PhD.
- Experience designing and testing digital electronic systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Design experience with ARM or Intel based microprocessors.
- Design with AMD And/Or Lattice FPGA's
- Proficiency in schematic capture with Siemens DXDesigner or Altium Designer
- Expertise with the design, constraint and integration of high-speed interfaces. (e.g., PCIe Gen 3/4, 10 GbE, 40 GbE, 100 GbE, DDR4).
- In-depth Knowledge of Signal Integrity and Power Integrity analysis.
- High current/low voltage switching power supply experience
- Experience collaborating with embedded software and firmware engineers to ensure seamless product verification and successful integration of hardware with FPGA and software functionality.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Experience with Hyperlynx SI/PI
- Experience in Rad hard or high reliability design
