Title: DIGITAL DESIGN ENGINEER (FPGA)
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Our client, a leading federal defense contractor, is seeking a Digital Design Engineer to join the engineering team developing advanced military-grade electronics systems. The role involves digital electronics design, FPGA development, circuit design, and cross-disciplinary collaboration across systems and software engineering teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design digital electronics including FPGA development and circuit design
- Own definition, design, verification, and documentation
- Determine architecture, system simulation, and detailed design approach
- Define module interfaces and all aspects of device design and simulation
- Evaluate process flow including high-level design, synthesis, place and route, timing, and power utilization
- Create test and simulation plans establishing functional criteria
- Verify test results and analyze performance; perform verification and validation on target hardware
- Provide leadership on inter-disciplinary design efforts
MANDATORY SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience (or Master's with 3+ years)
- Willingness to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
- Knowledge and experience with all phases of circuit card design
- Ability to explain complex designs using non-technical terms
- Ability to reverse engineer existing designs and update functionality for new requirements
- Experience collaborating with Systems and Software Engineering teams
- Understanding of System-On-Chip (SoC) design with embedded processor on FPGA
- Strong initiative, independent judgment, and ability to handle complex assignments with minimal direction
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS
- Application programming experience on embedded processors
- Ability to identify opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation
