Job DescriptionThe Digital Delivery Specialist - Process & Standards is responsible for evaluating, developing, implementing, and continuously improving Digital Delivery standards, workflows, and best practices across Michael Baker International. This role drives efficiency, consistency, quality, and scalability in project delivery through process optimization, automation, data-driven workflows, and adoption of advanced digital capabilities.
Digital Delivery Specialists works closely with Digital Delivery Managers and Leaders to support project execution, while partnering with the Digital Delivery Director to align advanced capabilities with enterprise strategy. This role serves as the technical expert in one or more specialization areas including automation, digital twins, visualization, and data integration, ensuring innovative solutions are deployed consistently across projects.
This role is ideal for a highly technical professional with experience in computational design, data workflows, and digital innovation in the AEC industry. Digital Delivery Specialists are responsible for bridging the gap between innovation and execution by developing scalable solutions that enhance project delivery and support the firm's digital transformation goals.
Key ResponsibilitiesA key responsibility of the Digital Delivery Specialist is to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Digital Delivery standards, workflows, and best practices that drive consistency, efficiency, and quality across project delivery. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert focused on identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual effort through automation, improve data quality, and establish scalable standards that can be applied consistently across the enterprise. The Specialist works closely with project teams, Digital Delivery Leaders, and enterprise stakeholders to ensure digital delivery practices support operational excellence, improved project outcomes, and organizational digital transformation initiatives.
Digital Delivery Standards & Process Optimization
- Develop, document, and maintain Digital Delivery standards, workflows, templates, and best practices that promote consistency and efficiency across projects.
- Evaluate existing Digital Delivery standards, templates, workflows, and project execution practices to identify opportunities for standardization, modernization, automation, and performance improvement.
- Partner with project teams to integrate standardized digital workflows into BIM execution, coordination, design production, and deliverable development activities.
- Ensure Digital Delivery standards align with quality assurance requirements, BIM standards, project delivery objectives, and enterprise digital transformation goals.
- Develop implementation guidance, training materials, and technical documentation to support adoption and long-term scalability of standardized workflows.
- Monitor workflow performance, data integrity, and model quality to drive continuous improvement and support measurable business outcomes at both project and organizational levels.
Process Innovation & Digital Transformation
- Develop and implement advanced digital workflows, tools, and automation strategies to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with Digital Delivery Managers and Directors to evaluate emerging technologies and translate innovation into scalable solutions.
- Support pilot initiatives, applied research, and development of repeatable advanced workflows across the organization.
Project Support / Integration
- Support project teams by developing, documenting and integrating advanced workflows into BIM execution, coordination, and deliverable creation.
- Work with Digital Delivery Leaders and Project Managers to apply automation, visualization, and data solutions to project-specific challenges.
- Ensure alignment between advanced tools and project standards, workflows, and deliverables.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the effectiveness, efficiency, quality, and adoption of Digital Delivery standards and workflows.
Cross Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with Architects, Engineers, project managers, IT, data teams, and Digital Delivery staff to implement advanced digital solutions.
- Partner with external vendors, software providers, and internal stakeholders to support technology implementation and scaling.
- Work across disciplines to ensure integration of data, models, and workflows into cohesive digital ecosystems.
Training / Enablement
- Provide training and technical support on advanced workflows, tools, and digital capabilities.
- Develop documentation, guides, and best practices for implementation and scaling of advanced digital delivery tools and methods.
- Lead rollout and change adoption efforts associated with new Digital Delivery standards, tools, and workflows.
- Support onboarding and upskilling of Digital Delivery staff in advanced capabilities.
Other Specialty Areas & Technical Expertise
- Project Delivery & Design Automation: Develop automation scripts, parametric workflows, and process improvements using tools like Dynamo, Python, and APIs.
- Computational Design: Support generative design, parametric modeling, and algorithm-driven design workflows.
- Advanced Visualization / VR / AR / XR: Develop immersive visualization, real-time rendering, virtual environment workflows and Digital Twins.
- Reality Capture & Scan to BIM: Process point cloud data, implement scan-to-BIM workflows, and integrate reality capture into design and coordination.
- Asset Data & Digital Twins: Support structured data integration, digital twin models, and lifecycle asset information management.
- 4D Scheduling: Integrate schedule data with models to support sequencing and construction simulation.
- 5D Quantity Takeoff / Cost: Support model-based quantity extraction, estimating workflows, and cost integration.
- BIM to Field / Model-Based Construction: Support construction workflows, field integration, and model-based coordination for construction teams.
- Analytics & Reporting: Develop dashboards, data analytics workflows, and reporting tools to support decision-making.
- Digital Advisory & Transformation: Support strategic initiatives, transformation efforts, and implementation of enterprise-level digital capabilities.
Delivery Enablement / Quality Assurance
- Ensure advanced workflows integrate with BIM standards, QA/QC processes, and project delivery requirements.
- Support validation of data integrity, model quality, and performance of advanced digital workflows.
Direct vs. Indirect work allocation
- This role is a blended project-facing (direct) and innovation-focused (indirect) position.
- Indirect 40-50% of time: development and advancement of tools, standards, training, and innovation initiatives.
- Direct 50-60% of time: supporting projects, advancing project delivery workflows, and monitoring overall project performance.
Professional Requirements - Minimum of 8 years of experience in A/E/C, Digital Delivery, computational design, or related technical fields with demonstrated expertise in advanced BIM and digital workflows.
- BS/BA in Architecture, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline; advanced degrees, professional licenses and certifications preferred.
- Strong technical proficiency in tools such as Revit, Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, ReCap Pro, ESRI ArcGIS, Experience Builder, FME (ETL), Python, JavaScript, Unreal Engine, Unity, NVIDIA Omniverse, Autodesk Tandem/Connect, Bentley iTwin/BECS, APIs/MCPs, Navisworks, IMAGINiT Clarity, ACC/Forma/APS, and other advanced digital platforms.
- Familiarity with Federal Enclave VDI workflows, Autodesk for Government and CUI Project Delivery requirements.
- Experience with developing Digital Delivery workflows and standards aimed at streamlining and automating project delivery and monitoring quality
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems-thinking capabilities to develop scalable solutions.
- Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical workflows effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to lead innovation initiatives and support enterprise digital transformation efforts.
COMPENSATIONThe approximate compensation range for this position is $89,000 to $120,000 annually. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
