Job Description and Requirements

The Digital Delivery Manager will be responsible for facilitating and overseeing digital services for the Transmission Planning and Power System Analysis (TP&PSA) business line including automation management and development, tool and software assessments, and technology stack management and optimization. Key roles include supporting the execution of projects across all offices within the business line, supporting business strategy outlined by the Digital Delivery Director, business line leads and managing directors, developing high-performing teams, supporting quality reviews, and promoting the Burns & McDonnell culture, values, and mission.

The Digital Delivery Manager will report directly to the Digital Delivery Director of the TP&PSA business line within 1898 & Co. and will support the Business Line on a national level. The Digital Delivery Manager will need a deep understanding of the power systems industry, specifically with transmission planning studies and operations, to be successful in this position.

The Digital Delivery Manager will be responsible at the Business Line level for automation management and development, new markets and services, best practices and training, and technology stack management and optimization. Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
  • Support the development and execution of the digital strategy for the TP&PSA business line.
  • Drive innovation through AI, digital tools, and automation technologies.
  • Support, maintain, and actively develop core automation tools supporting execution of project work in the business line both directly and with the support of other staff within the business line.

Operational Integration
  • Partner with project managers to identify and implement automation opportunities to improve project processes.
  • Support profitable growth of the business line, including pursuing new markets or products utilizing current core services by establishing process and best practices for others to easily leverage.
  • Provide strategic feedback to project managers on the efficient execution of projects.
  • Achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.

Business Development
  • Responsible for managing and collaborating with business development managers, managing directors, business line leads, project managers, and proposal production staff on software management and procurement and vendor partnership.

Collaboration & Coordination
  • Facilitate digital delivery coordination across regions, departments, and other business lines.
  • Coordinate best practice training regarding tools and automation for the business line.

Leadership & Project Execution
  • Provide experienced technical guidance and support.
  • Mentor and train less experienced staff on technical and business aspects of projects and the industry; serve as a recognized industry-leader in transmission planning; support company initiatives.
  • Provide leadership to the team; direct and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective execution of projects.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, instruction, and strategic one-on-one meetings with business line staff.
  • Work with Business Line leadership to document, publish, and maintain quality processes and maintain alignment with core quality guidelines.

Preferred Experience & Skills
  • Deep and broad base of knowledge regarding electric transmission systems and transmission system planning processes.
  • Extensive experience with transmission planning, studies, and operations such as load flow, short circuit, transient stability and electromagnetic transient studies; transmission planning standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong experience with industry software such as PSS/E, TARA, PSLF, PSCAD, TSAT, and PowerWorld.
  • Strong programming skills with Python, C# and other modern development languages.
  • Experience in utilizing AI tools, such as OpenAI Codex or Anthropic Claude Code, to develop automation workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a transmission planning study with execution support from other staff.
  • Ability to develop, support, and manage automated workflows performing a variety of steady state and transient stability simulations utilizing industry standard software.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard engineering techniques for electric transmission system planning procedures and criteria.
  • Proven ability to lead, educate, and train a team of engineers and analysts in regard to transmission system planning studies.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and analysts.
  • General business and financial calculation knowledge.
  • Effective project management skills.
  • Ability to work with existing and new clients to identify new projects, articulate to the clients our ability to perform those projects, and translate that into the sale of consulting services.
  • Ability to communicate with various business contacts to understand their needs and translate them into a scope of work that meets their desired outcomes.

Compensation

$160,000.00-260,000.00 Yearly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
