Your next role As a Senior Smart Buildings Consultant, you will lead the strategy, business case development, procurement, and delivery of digital and smart building programs for a diverse range of clients. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you will help organizations unlock value through connected technologies, operational intelligence, and data-driven decision-making.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, guiding initiatives from concept through operational handover while helping shape Buro Happold's growing Digital Advisory practice. From smart buildings and campuses to large-scale urban and infrastructure projects, you will play a key role in delivering innovative solutions that drive meaningful business and operational outcomes.
Your key duties - Lead the strategy, business case development, and delivery of digital and smart building programs from concept through operational handover.
- Develop prioritized use cases, technology roadmaps, and investment cases that align digital solutions with client business objectives.
- Manage technology procurement processes, including market assessments, supplier evaluations, tender management, and contract structuring.
- Review and assess technical proposals and solution architectures, including BMS, EMS, BOS, IoT platforms, analytics platforms, and OT/IT convergence solutions.
- Establish governance frameworks, reporting structures, and commercial controls while managing scope, budget, risks, and program dependencies.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear business recommendations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with technology vendors and industry partners to ensure recommendations remain current and market-informed.
- Develop and enhance digital transformation methodologies, tools, templates, and advisory frameworks.
- Design and facilitate client workshops to identify opportunities, accelerate understanding, and build stakeholder alignment.
- Mentor and support team members while contributing to the continuous growth of the Digital Advisory practice.
- Support business development efforts through proposal development, client engagement, and innovative go-to-market offerings.
Your skills and experience As an established Smart Buildings or Digital Advisory professional, we expect that you will be able to demonstrate:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- 4+ years of experience leading or managing digital and smart building programs, ideally spanning strategy, business case development, and delivery.
- 2+ years of experience with smart building technologies, including BMS, EMS, BOS, IoT platforms, analytics solutions, and OT/IT convergence.
- Proven experience developing business cases, use-case portfolios, and implementation roadmaps for digital and smart building initiatives.
- Experience managing procurement processes, supplier evaluations, and technology-related contract structuring.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to align technology solutions with business objectives.
- Experience leading projects or workstreams with direct client interaction and stakeholder management responsibilities.
- Familiarity with consulting methodologies such as MSP, design thinking, or similar frameworks.
- Interest and experience in technology-enabled business, real estate, or urban transformation initiatives.
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: digital strategy, innovation, business case development, digital procurement, enterprise architecture, operating models, governance, program advisory, or information management.
- Understanding of the construction process and/or experience within the built environment industry is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Relevant professional or business qualifications (e.g., MBA, ACA, CA, or similar) are beneficial.

What we offer - Salary range of $100,000 to $130,000. This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience
