Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and maintenance on trailers and vehicles.

  • Execute multi-point safety inspections, ensuring vehicle safety components are functional.
  • Assess vehicle batteries through diagnostic testing.
  • Inspect and replace fuel filters and check transmission and oil levels.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

* This is a night shift position that starts around 6:00PM.

SUMMARY:

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for advanced fleet repairs, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and functioning as a productive member of the Mechanics team to support the company service trucks, equipment, and trailers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform basic inspections, repairs, and maintenance on trailers and company vehicles.
  • Perform higher level troubleshooting on fleet, and mentor Level 1 Mechanics.
  • Perform Federal and DOT and CHP Annual Safety inspection of company vehicles (including but not limited to taking pictures of data plates, tire sizes, trailers, copying registrations and other required information).
  • Perform multi-point safety inspection of vehicles, including but not limited to brakes, lines, air brakes, horn, lights, and tires.
  • Perform diagnostic assessment on batteries.
  • Inspect fuel filters, transmission, and oil.
  • Complete all required company paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Drive company vehicles when required in a safe and legal manner.
  • Keep work area clean and safe at all times.

COMPETENCIES/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in automotive maintenance and repair.
  • Valid and clear state driver's license.
  • 5 years or more experience as a Diesel Mechanic, including troubleshooting required.
