Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program Director (Full-Time)

Location: Denver, CO | Campus: On-Site

Type: Full-Time | Salaried Exempt

Compensation: $94,415 - $118,020 per year

Position Summary

Pima Medical Institute is seeking an experienced, visionary Diagnostic Medical Sonography leader to serve as Program Director for our Denver campus. In this executive educational role, you will oversee all academic, clinical, and operational facets of the DMS program-directing faculty, driving curriculum standards, fostering student retention, and maintaining institutional excellence.

To ensure effective oversight across our core curriculum offerings, candidates must possess at least two (2) of the following active registry concentrations: Abdomen (AB), Vascular (RVT/VS), or Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN). Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Faculty Supervision:
  • Team Leadership: Direct, supervise, and mentor DMS faculty and staff, including overseeing the Clinical Director.
  • Faculty Operations: Prepare teaching assignments, coordinate professional development workshops, and conduct faculty in-services.
  • Departmental Goals: Establish, implement, and evaluate long-term strategic goals for the DMS department.

Curriculum & Clinical Oversight:
  • Curriculum Design: Develop, maintain, and update functional course content, learning materials, and textbook selections in alignment with institutional design.
  • Educational Planning: Coordinate and refine both didactic and clinical education pathways for the DMS program.
  • Instruction: Perform functions of a DMS instructor, leading classroom or lab instruction as needed.

Program Administration & Fiscal Management:
  • Budget Oversight: Monitor the department budget and operational expenditures to ensure fiscal sustainability and compliance.
  • Institutional Alignment: Collaborate with campus administration in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of program offerings.

Student Success & Academic Standards:
  • Retention Management: Track student success rates and execute targeted interventions to maintain an 80%+ student success rate across all courses.
  • Performance Evaluation: Assess student learning outcomes against course objectives and make provisions for academic support.
  • Grade Management: Maintain accurate grading records per institutional policy and submit final semester grades for student transcripts.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an academic institution accredited by an agency recognized by the USDE or CHEA.
  • Program Graduate: Graduation from an accredited Sonography program recognized by the USDE or CHEA.
  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of full-time occupational experience as a registered Sonographer.
  • Required Credential & Multi-Registry Requirement: Active Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential through ARDMS. Must hold at least two (2) of the following active registries:
    • Abdomen (AB)
    • Vascular Technology (RVT / VS)
    • Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN)
  • Academic Competency: Proven coursework or background in instructional methodologies, curriculum development, and learning assessment.
  • Licensure: Active Colorado state licensure or credential as required by local, state, or federal laws.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and educational computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
