This role will be supporting our Petrone Practice Group in Staten Island, South Brooklyn, and some parts of New Jersey.
The RoleThe Diagnostic Medical Physicist will support imaging centers and hospital departments (radiology, radiation oncology, cardiology, OR, etc.) by performing evaluations of a wide variety of imaging systems in all modalities to ensure compliance with state regulations, accreditation requirements, and relevant practice standards. The physicist will also evaluate and characterize image quality to ensure imaging equipment is operating at optimal performance levels, and provide consultation to clients regarding facility design, shielding requirements, assessment of supplemental shielding, patient and occupational radiation exposure, etc. This role is an exempt position.
What You'll Do- Medical Physics QC Services of au modalities including but not limited to diagnostic imaging and nuclear medicine departments.
- Radiation Protection surveys
- Radiation protection shielding evaluations.
- Residency faculty member (including but not limited to track mentor, steering committee member, recruitment team member)
- Participate in radiation safety and QC meetings.
- Perform regulatory QC mock inspections for diagnostic and mammography departments.
- Create and deliver training sessions to meet regulatory and academic requirements.
- All duties typically associated with and expected of multi-modality experienced consulting Diagnostic Medical Physicist.
- Perform additional duties, as needed.
Operational Responsibilities: - Ensure QC activities with the region are performed in a timely manner when due.
- Proactively work within the team to ensure all regularly scheduled, episodic and emergency evaluations/activities are covered for our clients.
- To maintain and execute a policy of "zero tolerance" for errors made on self-generated reports, and to maintain and support a goal of "zero tolerance" on reports generated by others which are peer reviewed by the physicist (Employee).
- Always maintain a client-centric approach on delivery of service. Maintain the highest metric of client satisfaction evidenced by feedback, surveys, etc.
What You'll Need- A board certification by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Medical Physics, or board eligibility as demonstrated by graduation from a CAMPEP accredited residency in diagnostic physics.
- 3+ years Clinical experience in diagnostic imaging that includes general radiation safety, development and review of Operating, Safety, and Emergency Procedures, and knowledge of clinical protocols.
- Technical experience and understanding of state regulations, and ACR and TJC criteria, process, and compliance. Familiarity with applicable regulatory guides, and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical RequirementsA consulting physicist's job can be physically demanding at times. A typical day may require the physicist to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time wearing a lead apron, lift various pieces of test equipment, move mobile diagnostic medical equipment between rooms at a facility and drive between client facilities. Drive times may exceed 60 minutes to, from and in between client facilities. The physicist must have the ability to lift 50 lb test equipment cases to a height of 3-4 feet, load and unload the cases from a vehicle and transport the equipment into and around the client facility. The physicist is expected to communicate with colleagues and clients on a frequent basis. The physicist will operate a computer and other electronic equipment daily. Requires ability to use and move equipment. Occasional evening or weekend work.
