Full Job Description
The Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor (Breast Imaging) plays a key role in advancing this mission by overseeing daily clinical operations and ensuring high-quality imaging services.

Within the Diagnostic Imaging department, the Breast Imaging section focuses on delivering specialized imaging services, supporting early detection and diagnosis, and maintaining exceptional patient care standards. The Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor Breast Imaging leads operational activities, supports staff, and ensures compliance with clinical protocols. The Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor Breast Imaging is responsible for maintaining efficiency, safety, and excellence across all imaging workflows.

The ideal candidate brings a combination of clinical imaging expertise, leadership experience, and strong operational knowledge. They demonstrate the ability to manage staff, optimize workflow, and uphold high standards in patient care, safety, and technical imaging quality, with appropriate credentials and experience aligned to supervisory imaging roles.

Responsibilities

Clinical Operations & Patient Care
• Resolve clinical operation and patient care issues within scope of practice, including POCT, IV insertion, assessments, discharge, and patient education
• Ensure patient, family, staff, and visitor safety through continuous monitoring and adherence to safety protocols
• Screen patients for implanted devices and manage clinical/research clearance processes, including event reporting and Stop the Line procedures
• Maintain strict control of access to clinical areas and follow all safety guidelines
• Recognize patient distress and initiate emergency response procedures such as Code Blue and rapid response teams
• Adhere to infection control practices, including sterile and aseptic techniques and proper handling of contrast media
• Apply age-specific criteria and identify critical findings requiring immediate clinical response
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of imaging rooms and manage supply distribution and radioactive material compliance
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient privacy while maintaining accurate documentation and data entry
• Confirm patient identity and maintain accurate demographic and clinical records

Global Strategic Alignment, Personnel & Financial Administration
• Maximize productivity and operational effectiveness through multidisciplinary collaboration and meeting deadlines
• Manage patient flow and scheduling capacity to minimize delays and improve on-time starts
• Assist in policy and procedure development and improve workflow efficiency and room turnaround time
• Execute downtime procedures during system failures and report operational gaps
• Facilitate communication using appropriate tools and ensure accurate image transfer to PACS
• Conduct shift hand-offs using SBAR methodology and lead huddles, meetings, and reporting activities
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient experience and operational outcomes
• Coach, mentor, and train staff, students, and technologists while supporting workforce scheduling responsibilities
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards and regulatory requirements
• Document incidents and escalate issues within required timelines while maintaining ongoing education compliance

Technical Acumen
• Establish staff competencies and ensure high-quality imaging across all routine and advanced procedures
• Verify proper imaging techniques including positioning, annotation, and parameter accuracy
• Demonstrate knowledge of imaging principles and cross-sectional anatomy to support diagnostic outcomes
• Maintain productivity benchmarks and minimize error rates through monitoring and analysis
• Operate imaging equipment independently and oversee quality assurance processes
• Coordinate equipment issue resolution with engineering, physics, and leadership teams
• Provide technical coverage to ensure continuity of patient care
• Ensure accurate data entry across clinical systems including RIS, PACS, and billing systems
• Maintain knowledge of coding, billing, and regulatory guidelines such as ICD9/10
• Monitor equipment logs and ensure compliance with maintenance protocols

EDUCATION
  • Required: Graduate of a Radiology Technology, Ultrasound Technology, or Nuclear Medicine Technology program. or
  • Required: Associate's Degree Applied Science degree.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: 2 years Experience as a Registered Technologist. and
  • Required: 1 year Lead/supervisory experience.
  • Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Required: CMRT - Cert Medical Radiologic Tech Licensure by the Texas Medical Board (TMB). Upon Hire and
  • Required: ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). Upon Hire or
  • Required: NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB). Upon Hire or
  • Required: ARDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography Registration by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Upon Hire
  • Preferred: Certified/registered in respective modality. Upon Hire
  • Preferred: CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Upon Hire

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
