Position Description: CGI is seeking a DevOps Platform Engineer to own and operate an enterprise GitLab platform hosted on AWS.
This position is required in one of the following locations: Lafayette, LA, Knoxville, TN, Birmingham, AL
Your future duties and responsibilities: In this role, you'll manage end to end platform operations - including upgrades, patching, backup/restore, and disaster recovery readiness - while optimizing AWS infrastructure across EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, and EKS integrations.
You'll define platform governance for groups, permissions, and CI/CD standards, and build a scalable, secure GitLab Runner strategy that balances performance, reliability, and cost. This role also involves implementing CI/CD guardrails, reusable templates, and compliance checks, along with strengthening platform security through IAM controls, secrets management, and hardening practices.
You'll establish strong observability across metrics, logs, and alerting, lead incident response and root cause analysis, and drive operational excellence through better documentation and runbooks. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys owning a critical developer platform end to end and partnering with engineering teams to improve their day to day experience.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role: . 5+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, SRE, or a related role
. Real experience running GitLab as an enterprise platform - not just using it as a CI/CD tool
. Strong AWS background with EC2, RDS, S3, and CloudFormation; working knowledge of EKS
. Hands on experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines and release processes
. Comfortable with Infrastructure as Code and automation first operations
. Solid Linux, networking, and distributed systems troubleshooting skills
. Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar
. Strong communicator who works well across engineering teams
Desired Skillset:
. AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, etc.)
. Eperience with compliance/policy enforcement in CI/CD pipelines
. Exposure to Kubernetes operational patterns or GitOps workflows
Educational Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $89,600.00 $139,300.00.
