Full Job Description
We are seeking a DevOps Lead to join our team and support our federal customer.

The DevOps Lead will oversee all continuous integration, continuous deployment, release automation, infrastructure automation, vulnerability scanning, and secure software supply chain activities supporting DDPS production and development environments. This individual will ensure all code deployments meet CMS security, compliance, and release governance standards while maintaining highly automated deployment pipelines.

*This position is contingent upon contract award.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise CI/CD pipelines supporting secure automated software deployment across all CMS AWS environments.
  • Build infrastructure-as-code deployment frameworks enabling repeatable environment provisioning, automated infrastructure management, and standardized deployment processes.
  • Implement automated static code analysis, vulnerability scanning, dependency scanning, and software supply chain validation processes integrated directly into release pipelines.
  • Maintain release automation supporting zero-downtime deployments, automated rollback procedures, version control management, and production deployment governance.
  • Integrate security automation frameworks supporting compliance with CMS FISMA, NIST, CMS ARS, and enterprise security standards.
  • Manage software artifact repositories, version promotion processes, package management controls, and release auditing.
  • Support vulnerability remediation processes working closely with security teams to address code-level and infrastructure-level security findings.
  • Monitor operational release pipelines ensuring build integrity, deployment consistency, release traceability, and production deployment stability.
  • Support incident response activities during production outages, failed deployments, rollback procedures, and security incidents.
  • Maintain automated infrastructure provisioning supporting development, testing, staging, and production environments.

Work Experience and Job Skills:

Required:
  • 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud operations, enterprise DevOps, CI/CD pipeline development, and release automation.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading secure software delivery initiatives within AWS cloud environments.
  • Experience building enterprise-wide CI/CD pipelines supporting multiple development teams, parallel release streams, automated quality gates, and large-scale release automation.
  • Hands-on experience integrating automated testing, infrastructure as code (IaC), security scanning, vulnerability management, and compliance validation into automated release pipelines.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar automation frameworks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in secure cloud infrastructure design, deployment automation, and release governance.
  • Experience implementing enterprise security controls aligned with federal cybersecurity frameworks, including FISMA, NIST, and continuous monitoring (ConMon) requirements.
  • Strong background supporting mission-critical production systems in federal government, healthcare, financial services, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience establishing DevSecOps best practices by embedding security, compliance, and governance throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional DevOps initiatives and collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application development teams to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable cloud solutions.

Preferred:
  • Experience supporting large federal civilian agencies such as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), HHS, CDC, NIH, VA, or other federal agencies operating under strict security and compliance mandates.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production systems requiring 24x7 operational availability and strict uptime requirements.
  • Experience managing zero-downtime deployment strategies, automated rollback procedures, release recovery processes, and production incident response.

Required Technical Skills:
  • CI/CD Pipeline Engineering & Release Automation
    • Strong hands-on experience designing and managing enterprise continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines that automate code build, testing, security validation, artifact management, deployment promotion, rollback procedures, and production release execution.
