Reports to: Principal DevOps Engineer
PurposeAs a DevOps Engineer, you will work collaboratively with our software engineering team to deploy and operate custom and off-the-shelf software systems, and help in automating and streamlining software development lifecycle (SDLC) operations and processes. You will be required to build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations, and troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test and production environments.
Responsibilities- Contributes to software development, from build system automation to automated cloud infrastructure deployment, to support our engineering delivery and ongoing business processes.
- Assists in implementing DevOps practices across the organization to enhance our Agile posture.
- Develops, deploys, and maintains CI/CD systems for our cloud applications and infrastructure.
- Deploys, operates, and maintains third-party software solutions on in-house infrastructure when necessary to comply with requirements or regulations.
- Writes Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automates its deployment using industry-standard tools and services.
- Provides systems support, including responding to monitoring alerts and troubleshooting cloud-based systems.
- Implements and stays abreast of Cloud and DevOps industry best practices and tooling.
- Documents automation processes.
- Troubleshoots CI/CD infrastructure and processes (disk space, network issues, etc.).
- Provides CI/CD pipeline support (troubleshooting, assisting with setup in new projects).
- Works closely with the developer team to capture, analyze, and derive DevOps requirements.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, information systems; may consider a high school diploma with equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub or equivalent systems, including writing, deploying, and automating CI/CD workflows, pipelines, and IaC scripts.
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies, tools, and platforms, and operate them for the benefit of our developer team and other internal customers.
- Hands-on experience in continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines/workflows, including different deployment strategies (blue-green, canary, etc.).
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting Azure or other cloud-based systems.
- Experience with typical SDLC practices such as branching, branch protection policies, and code review, their implementation in Azure DevOps, GitHub, or equivalent platforms, and code analysis tools such as SonarQube.
- Good knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash.
- Familiarity with REST APIs.
Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge of Azure Machine Learning Service and its architecture/framework.
- Knowledge of different monitoring and logging solutions available from cloud providers, preferably on Azure, including Azure Log Analytics, Azure Application Insights, Azure Monitor, Grafana, and Prometheus.
- Experience with the following Azure compute solutions: Azure Functions, Virtual Machines, Azure App Service, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Event Hubs, Azure Service Bus, Azure API Management, Azure Application Gateway, Azure SQL Server
- Experience with Azure ARM or Bicep for IaC
- Relevant Certifications:
- Azure DevOps (AZ-400)
- Azure Data Engineering (AZ-200 and AZ-201)
- Azure Cloud Developer (AZ-203)
