Job Description

Job Title: Development Engineering Specialist, MV-75

Working Pattern: Hybrid/Onsite in office 3 days/week

Working location: Indianapolis, IN

Relocation is available for this position if appropriate

Position Summary:

In this role, you will be working with the Rolls-Royce MV-75 propulsion system for the US Army. As an MV-75 Development Engineer Specialist with Rolls-Royce, you will be responsible to provide programmatic leadership in coordination of the cross-functional product team designing, testing, and certification of the AE 1107F engine. This role will also require supporting customer engagements, Program Management of Systems Engineering projects, and/or Installed Verification testing.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage the assembly and configuration of engines through the MV-75 development program
  • Understand experiment/test requirements and turn them into test plans, budgets, schedules and subsequently test instructions. Understand and articulate risks and opportunities to program leadership to support decision making.
  • Regularly support test operations for testing during an Engine Development Program (EDP), including leading test procedures and activities.
  • Ensure project risks (technical, cost, supply chain, and timescale) are identified, managed (including integration of risk activities in project plan), and escalation of risks in accordance with risk management plan.
  • Manage and deliver the necessary compliance documents, from requirements capture through to evidence of compliance via appropriate software / tools.
  • This position will plan, manage, and develop engine/sub-system certification/qualification plans and participate in product introduction gated reviews, and allocate requirements to major sub-systems.
  • Lead integration activities between project teams and test to ensure instrumentation, controls, data acquisition, test limits, and test data recording are completed. Support on-site and off-site development engine/sub-system build and test activities.
  • Understand experiment/test requirements and turn them into test plans, budgets, schedules and subsequently test instructions. Understand and articulate risks and opportunities to program leadership to support decision making.

Who we are looking for:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technical Degree with 5+years of experience or
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Technical Degree with 3+ years of experience, or
  • JD/PhD in Engineering or a Technical Degree
  • To qualify for this role you must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment; willingness to accept responsibility and take initiative; and drive to finish assigned tasks on schedule
  • An excellent command of the English language for both written and oral communications
  • 4+ years of experience in technical project management or development engineering
  • Experience interfacing with customers on technical program issues
  • Gas turbine engine test, installation, verification, and performance experience
  • Project / Function Management Engineering Experience
  • Experience with the Rolls-Royce Indianapolis EVMS systems and Microsoft Project
  • Experience managing and interpreting requirements, and developing test plans
  • Experience leading a cross-discipline, cross-functional development team
  • Experience with product configuration control, quality systems, trouble reporting and root cause / corrective action
  • Experience with structured verification
