Full Job Description
Development Engineer who will develop product design and manufacturing methods for parts within specified value stream. Manage projects that meet internal and external customer requirements for quality and delivery. Design fixtures, tooling, and gaging for new product. Provide technical and production support to manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Design manufacturing components that satisfy customer requirements using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software. Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to verify conformity to aerospace bearing standards.
  • Develop manufacturing process steps for new and existing product utilizing knowledge of machining and processing methodologies. Create manufacturing sequence drawings to industry drafting and tolerance standards. Design fixtures, tooling, and gaging as necessary.
  • Create project plans and manage short to mid-term projects dealing with customer specific product development activities and/or Kamatics new product development. Ensures that quality, cost, and delivery requirements are satisfied.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing operations personnel to ensure process capabilities. Provide primary support to assigned value stream and develop manufacturing knowledge with the goal of servicing all operations. Act as a troubleshooter for assembly / machining process / manufacturing problems. Resolve problems and work with Applications Engineering, Purchasing, Sales Representatives, Product and Process Suppliers, and customers to resolve issues.
  • Participate in Kamatics' culture of continuous improvement. Develop standard work for new processes to meet productivity and quality requirements. Use lean manufacturing methods to enhance current capabilities. Perform research for equipment acquisition; develop return on investment (ROI) reports.
  • Work with production engineers (PE) and technicians to meet delivery goals for internal and external customers. Train PE's in support of knowledge base growth and development.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety and environmental incidents to supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Accomplish related results as needed.


Requirements and Qualifications

Education: BS Degree in Engineering or related field. MS Degree preferred.

Experience:
  • 3-5 years manufacturing engineering experience
  • Previous experience with FEA and ERP software preferred
  • Proficiency with Computer Aided Drafting programs is essential
