The primary responsibility of this role is to perform product and process development in the film and sheet processing of the Specialty Films subdivision.
Major Tasks & Responsibilities:- Develop modified and new grades of TPU, polycarbonate, and film and sheet products
- Develop multi-layer and cast-on-carrier products
- Lead key development projects
- Document and report progress of the product development programs
- Support projects that require capital investments
- Independently interact with customers and internal commercial organization to thoroughly understand customer requirements in order to effectively contribute to new product development;
- Contribute to developing new applications for TPU films
- Provide technical service to Specialty Films TPU customers
Basic Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with 4+ years of relevant professional experience; OR Master's degree in an engineering discipline with 2 years of relevant professional experience; OR Ph.D. degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline with 1+ year of relevant professional experience
Preferred Qualifications:- Degree in chemical engineering or plastics engineering
- Specific experience with manufacturing or development of plastic films, including thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), polycarbonate (PC), or similar
- Specific familiarity with DOE software such as JMP or Minitab
Knowledge and Skills:- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to translate development activities into commercially viable technologies and products
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence others
- Strong computer skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Thorough understanding of statistical methods in experimental design (DOE)
