Description & Requirements

about the role

We're looking for a designer to bring fresh eyes to Athletic Bags at lululemon.

Run, train, yoga and beyond. The product is technical and highly functional, but the opportunity is much bigger: to bring a completely new point of view to how athletic bags look, work and feel.

We're open to a wild card. You might come from fashion, sport or technical product. What matters is great taste, curiosity and the ambition to create something that isn't already on the market.

what you'll do
  • Own the creative direction of Athletic Bags across run, train, yoga and emerging ways to move.
  • Design highly functional, technically resolved product with a strong sense of form.
  • Obsess over how things carry, move, open, close, fit and perform.
  • Bring fashion awareness and cultural relevance to performance product.
  • Research beyond the obvious. We value original references, unexpected thinking and ideas from outside the traditional sports world.
  • Work closely with development, materials and manufacturing to turn ambitious ideas into real product.
  • Bring strong visual thinking, mood boards, sketching and storytelling to the category.
  • Collaborate generously with the wider Bags team.

who you are

You're a trailblazer rather than a follower.

You understand detail and function, but you also know when something simply looks right. You're interested in the tension between technical performance and fashion, and excited by the possibility of pushing both somewhere new.

Low ego, highly collaborative and hungry to experiment. You want ownership, you question convention and you're prepared to run with an idea.

You're eager to rethink athletic bags and be creative at scale.

qualifications
  • 5+ years in fashion, sport, bags or technical product design.
  • A portfolio showing originality, exceptional taste and strong design thinking.
  • Strong understanding of construction, materials and technical development.
  • Excellent sketching, CAD and visual communication skills.
  • Experience developing product through to manufacture.

must haves
  • Acknowledge the presence of choice in every moment and take personal responsibility for your life.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and continuously innovate to achieve great results.
  • Communicate with honesty and kindness and create the space for others to do the same.
  • Lead with courage, knowing the possibility of greatness is bigger than the fear of failure.
  • Foster connection by putting people first and building trusting relationships.
  • Integrate fun and joy as a way of being and working, aka doesn't take yourself too seriously.
