Are you ready to take your technical expertise to the next level? At Medtronic's Rice Creek Manufacturing site, we are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Design Technician V to join our team. In this critical role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge manufacturing processes and equipment. You will also work closely with design and engineering teams to create fixtures, molds, test fixtures, and miscellaneous parts that require manufacturing using machine tools.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Program and operate various CNC vertical machining centers, Wire EDMs, manual grinders, lathes, and secondary operation equipment
  • Analyze drawings, sketches, models, and engineering or shop specifications to prepare metalworking dies, molds, and machine tool fixtures
  • Utilize machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments to calculate dimensions and ensure tolerances are met
  • Perform precision machining work to meet exacting tolerances and dimensions, while revising designs and solving problems as needed
  • Monitor and verify compliance with quality and safety standards in alignment with Medtronic's standards.


Required Knowledge and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical experience


Nice to Have:
  • Prior experience in a tool room environment
  • Knowledge of setting up and running Haas vertical machining centers, lathes, and wire EDMs
  • Proficiency in programming using Mastercam software
  • Familiarity with navigating Creo Parametric
  • Understanding of cutting tool geometry and applications
  • Experience with vertical CNC machining centers
  • Ability to read and interpret advanced drawings with GD&T.
  • Skills in conceptualizing and sketching tools, fixtures, and gauges.


For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. a7 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$80,400.00 - $120,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range applies across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and certain locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
