Job Description:

Title: Design Senior Engineer

Company: Airbus Americas, Inc.

Worksite location: Kinston, North Carolina

Duties: Support the production concessions of aircraft structure and will be responsible for the creation of quality solutions in a timely manner from a design point of view. Duties will include performing design efforts for both metallic and non-metallic parts while working in close collaboration with stress colleagues to provide solutions. Methods will include the use of multiple applications to research aircraft configurations and develop efficient solutions to satisfy airworthiness requirements. Ensure safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance while adhering to the terms of the concession. Autonomously assesses design deviations or non-conformances for metallic, composite and hybrid structures align solutions for manufacturing to the aircraft definition. Ensure appropriate Airbus methods, processes and procedures are followed. Liaise with and support stakeholders such as Stress, Manufacturing, Quality and other Airbus departments as necessary to come up with optimum solutions and ensure Stress requirements are fully integrated. Develop and maintain component/aircraft familiarity, to ensure prompt response to build. Develop towards and maintain Technical Signature Delegation for nonconformances and concessions for primary and secondary aircraft structures (T200). Develop design answer and create a drawing pack to support T200 and T300 completion. Mentor and provide leadership to less experienced design engineers/designers. Effectively manage workflow for self and teammates. Guide and/or lead the successful completion of projects and execute activities to achieve customer requirements. Apply extensive technical expertise and have full knowledge of other related disciplines. Key technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on major technical matters. Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in design/analysis with airframe structures. Experience must include: CATIA V5 and/or 3D Experience; design complex repair solutions for aircraft structures; interpret documentation techniques and procedures (e.g., SRM, NTM, AMM, CMM, IPCC); programming languages (e.g., Excel-VBA, python, javascript) for automating design and configuration control methods and processes; design tools for modeling repairs and modifications of aircraft parts.
