Description

Design/Package Engineer-BIW to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for overseeing BIW Systems and component development, ensuring compatibility and integration across vehicle systems. Leading teams to engineer parts and assemblies, resolving integration issues. Managing technical specifications, setting vehicle targets, and providing guidance to engineers.

  • Develop and guide the development of BIW Systems and components, ensuring interface compatibility across all vehicle systems.
  • Lead the team in engineering parts, assemblies, and attributes, ensuring feasibility, manufacturability, and assimilability into vehicles.
  • Responsible for total vehicle integration of all BIW attribute requirements and feasibility at the vehicle level.
  • Identify and resolve integration and design issues during vehicle development.
  • Lead cross-functional Integration team meetings, collaborating with product development teams including systems, packaging, manufacturing, and service.
  • Manage Vehicle Technical Specifications and Functional Vehicle Targets, cascading technical requirements to BIW systems and components.
  • Develop strategic and specific vehicle level targets and evaluate functional requirements against vehicle features at each development gate.
  • Provide guidance and constraints to Development Engineers and the organization as the product plan matures.
  • Expected responsibilities include Benchmarking, Vehicle Performance, Weight Management, Durability & Reliability, BIW/Dynamics/Braking Development, and others.
  • Departments and responsibilities will evolve over time.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in vehicle development.
  • Demonstrates expert proficiency in CATIA V5.
  • Exhibits strong communication, team building, and relationship building skills.
  • Direct experience in developing or packaging BIW systems.
  • Capable of leading teams and conducting meetings to navigate technical tradeoffs and achieve optimized solutions with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of vehicle technicalities and the development process, including setting technical targets, assessing feasibility, and validating with statistical confidence, both virtually and physically.
  • Familiarity with NHTSA/FMVSS, CARB, EPA requirements.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
