Full Job Description
Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Design Engineering Manager to join our growing Engineering Group in Mississauga, ON.

Reporting to the Manager of Engineering the Design Engineering Manager is accountable to manage and direct the multi-discipline engineering / drafting teams to produce outputs that are fit for purpose, in alignment with project requirements and produced in a timely and cost effective manner.

The tasks you'll perform
  • Provide technical leadership, creativity, and sound professional judgement, anticipating and resolving complex design issues while guiding the design team.
  • Approve design deliverables including drawings, standards, specifications, and procedures, ensuring compliance with Company, Australian, and International standards.
  • Plan, manage, and control design resources, man-hour budgets, and schedules for Studies and EPCM projects to meet agreed deliverables.
  • Lead and monitor the performance and progress of multi-discipline design and drafting teams, providing feedback, support, mentoring, and development opportunities.
  • Facilitate design reviews across all project stages, support pre-commissioning activities, and manage field engineering inputs.
  • Oversee the review, coordination, and dissemination of vendor documentation to ensure effective interface management across disciplines.
  • Ensure a high level of communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement across clients, internal teams, and external parties, maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Contribute to business development and continuous improvement, including proposal preparation (scope, budget, schedules), customer presentations, improvement initiatives, and ad-hoc travel as required.

The expertise you'll bring
  • Minimum 15+ years of post-graduate experience in mineral processing or metallurgical plant design, with a focus on mechanical equipment within the mining discipline.
  • Engineering qualification (or equivalent) with P.Eng designation in Ontario.
  • Provides global project leadership across mining operations, with a strong focus on mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Intuitive leader capable of initiating, leading, and managing change in complex environments.
  • Proven ability to mentor teams, support professional development, and drive succession planning.
  • Strong capability to evaluate work practices, implement systems, and recommend improvements or refinements.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality outputs with minimal supervision while meeting budget and schedule constraints.
  • High attention to detail with exceptional expertise in engineering drawings, supported by strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and business acumen skills.

The expected salary range for this role is $160,000 to $200,000. This range is based on the role's job family and level and reflects a good faith estimate for the role at the time of posting. Your final offer will depend on factors such as market conditions, internal equity and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
