POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Logistics & Maintenance Services, LLC has a dynamic opportunity for a Deputy Project Manager (DPM) in the Washington, DC area. The DPM is a key leadership position responsible for supporting the Project Manager in the overall administration, coordination, and execution of contract operations. The DPM ensures project goals, performance standards, and contractual requirements are met in alignment with corporate and customer expectations. This position serves as the alternate to the Project Manager and assumes full responsibility for management and decision-making in the Project Manager's absence.

The DPM reports directly to the Project Manager and provides daily oversight of operational activities, personnel management, and customer engagement to ensure the successful delivery of all contract services.

The Deputy Project Manager will

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the Government for all contract-related matters when the Project Manager is unavailable.
  • Maintain consistent on-site presence during the Government's regular working hours.
  • Provide leadership and direction to contract personnel to ensure all work is performed in compliance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), schedule, and performance standards.
  • Support the Project Manager in planning, organizing, and directing all contract operations, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
  • Assist in monitoring project performance metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure contractual compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with corporate leadership and functional departments (e.g., HR, finance, logistics) to ensure smooth execution of operational activities.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment that aligns with company policies and customer expectations.
  • Support preparation of project reports, documentation, and briefings for Government and corporate stakeholders.
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels and continuity of operations in the absence of the Project Manager.
  • Foster effective communication between all levels of staff and the Government to address issues promptly and maintain a high level of performance across all areas of the contract.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing or assisting in the management of a workforce providing services on a Base Operations Support (BOS) contract or similar large-scale, complex operation.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, operations management, or related leadership roles within a federal contracting environment.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong understanding of contract administration, project management principles, and performance-based service delivery.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment under minimal supervision.

Citizenship and Clearance:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license is required.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance is required.

Physical Requirements:
  • The work environment may include exposure to loud noises, dust, and typical industrial conditions.

Leadership and Interpersonal Skills:
  • Ability to motivate and lead diverse teams effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain strong working relationships with Government personnel, subcontractors, and team members.

The Alutiiq people, also called by their ancestral name Sugpiaq, as well as Pacific Eskimo or Pacific Yupik, are a southern coastal people of Alaska Natives. Their traditional homelands include Prince William Sound and outer Kenai Peninsula, the Kodiak Archipelago and the Alaska Peninsula. In the early 1800s there were more than 60 Alutiiq villages in the Kodiak archipelago, with an estimated population of 13,000 people. Today more than 4,000 Alutiiq people live in Alaska.
