Full Job Description
Overview

The Critical Power Group is responsible for maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting UPS systems, batteries, and other critical infrastructure equipment. Our technicians are factory trained on most major UPS manufacturers of static equipment (e.g., MGE/APC, Liebert, Toshiba/Mitsubishi, and Powerware/Eaton to name a few). Our technicians perform preventive maintenance and equipment testing as well as emergency service calls at high profile government, institutional and commercial customer facilities. The Critical Power Group also provides engineering and technical support to customers and other divisions of M.C. Dean, Inc.

Responsibilities

This position provides advanced technical expertise, customer support, operational coordination, technician development, and project execution support to ensure regional performance objectives are achieved. The RSL is responsible for technical escalations, complex troubleshooting, project quoting, onboarding and development of technicians, and assisting with daily operational activities.
  • Serve as the region's primary technical resource for complex troubleshooting, diagnostics, and equipment support.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to field technicians.
  • Support regional technicians during emergency service events, major repairs, startups, commissioning activities, and technical escalations.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, Technical Support, Engineering, and other subject matter experts.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for customers regarding maintenance recommendations, repair options, and equipment condition assessments.
  • Assist with customer meetings, project reviews, and technical presentations.
  • Prepare and review quotations, estimates, change orders, and technical proposals.
  • Develop technical scopes of work for repairs, maintenance services, and equipment replacement projects.
  • Assist with project forecasting, manpower planning, and resource allocation.
  • Lead onboarding efforts for newly hired technicians within the region.
  • Develop and execute regional technician training plans.
  • Conduct field evaluations, site audits, and technical assessments.
  • Assist the Regional Manager with daily operational management of the region.
  • Monitor completion and quality of field service reports, quotations, KPRs, inspections, and administrative requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and operational performance.
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the region.
  • Support field safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.

Qualifications

Education:
  • BS in Engineering (Preferred EE or Industry related degree) with 5+ years of experience.
  • OEM experience (ABB, Ametek, SCI, Cyberex, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Gutor, APC, MGE, Schneider Electric, Vertiv/Powerware/Eaton) or progressive experience in power electronic system maintenance and repair.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical instructions, plans, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex electrical systems, perform damage assessments, estimate maintenance, parts, and manpower requirements, diagnose malfunctions, and employ testing and inspection techniques.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, maintenance practices, maintenance and supply procedures, and quality control procedures.
  • Ability and Willingness to Travel to project locations as needed.
