Project Overview:

Bechtel's Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning & packaging (AWP), material management, quantity validation, safety, quality control, subcontracts, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-ME1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supports the duties of the Project Field Engineer, responsible for coordination of all activities related to field engineering and interfacing with all other operating sections of the job-site.
  • Proactively engages with their teams' development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback
  • Develops and recommends the construction engineering staffing plan for approval by the Site Manager (or appropriate level of Project Management) and prepares employee requisitions.
  • Directs construction engineering activities of the assigned construction engineering staff, ensuring compliance with procedures.
  • Directs the design of temporary construction facilities as required.
  • Directs preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, equipment.
  • Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans and high risk rigging plans
  • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Owns field quality execution and assurance
  • Deep knowledge of project specs, codes, ITPs, and Bechtel quality systems; ensures right-first-time installation across disciplines.
  • Leads quality planning and readiness
  • Integrates quality requirements into AWP and field execution; verifies inspection points, hold points, and documentation are ready before work starts.
  • Manage inspections and nonconformances
  • Coordinates field inspections, reviews and dispositions NCRs, drives corrective actions, and prevents repeat issues.
  • Controls quality data and turnover
  • Ensures accurate records, test results, and as-builts; supports system completions and clean handover to commissioning and the client.
  • Acts as quality problem-solver and leader.
  • Coaches field engineers, superintendents, and craft on standards and expectations; escalates systemic risks early.
