The Opportunity

LendingTree is seeking a deputy editor focused on insurance to join our SEO editorial team. This is an individual-contributor role that will partner closely with the team's in-house and contributing editors and writers. We're especially interested in candidates who can speak to specific area(s) of insurance expertise - home, auto, health, or other lines - but who are also comfortable working across a wide range of insurance products.

How You'll Make an Impact

As deputy editor, you will assist with the full editorial process: assigning, editing, and publishing. You'll partner with writers and other editors to sharpen content quality, substance, and style, and you'll oversee editorial workflows and publishing priorities, proactively resolving challenges, so that high-quality content ships on schedule. You may also write content yourself as needed.

You'll also think beyond individual articles, understanding how each piece fits into the broader content library and contributes to the vertical's overall performance. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and organize a rapidly expanding content library at a pivotal stage of growth.

Serving as one of our in-house insurance specialists, your expert guidance will help readers make informed, confident decisions on insurance. There will be opportunities to speak externally to the media as an insurance authority as well.

What You'll Do

• Assign, edit, and publish content by in-house and contributing writers across multiple insurance products

• Serve as a subject-matter expert in insurance, ensuring our content is accurate, clear, and helpful

• Partner with writers and other editors to improve content quality, substance, and style across the entire insurance SEO library

• Oversee editorial workflows and publishing priorities, proactively resolving challenges and bottlenecks to keep high-quality content on schedule

• Help identify and close content gaps as the library scales, ensuring consistency and high quality across topics and formats

• Occasionally speak externally to the media about our insurance content and research

• Identify opportunities to improve search performance across the vertical

• Ensure content meets strict editorial and compliance standards before publishing

• Coach writers with clear feedback

• Write copy as needed

What Will Help You Thrive

• At least 2 years of experience in personal finance or insurance content (editing experience preferred)

• Insurance experience - such as serving as a licensed insurance agent, holding a relevant certification, or extensively editing/writing about insurance - in one or more types (e.g., home insurance, car insurance, health insurance, business insurance, pet insurance, etc.)

• Impeccable organizational skills, with the ability to develop a strong command of a rapidly growing content library

• Experience with or interest in SEO best practices and strategies, and comfort acting as a go-to resource on SEO and content optimization for other writers and editors

• Ability to give constructive feedback and coaching that builds strong relationships with writers

• Outstanding writing, editing, and grammar skills, with a strong commitment to accuracy and comprehensiveness

• Strong communication and time-management skills

• Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and lead multiple projects/tasks in a cross-disciplinary team

What Success Looks Like

• Project management and/or freelancer management experience

• Interest in and fluency with AI tools

• Experience with spreadsheet tools (e.g. Excel), and comfort working with data to spot content and search opportunities

Role-Specific Details

• This is a full-time position, remote or based in an office in Charlotte, Seattle, or Denver

• Must submit a cover letter that details your editing and writing experience, in addition to your experience with insurance

• Must be willing to complete a paid editing test

The Details

Base Pay: $85,000-$110,000

The base pay offered may vary based on internal factors, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible for an annual performance bonus.
