Duties & Responsibilities

The Deputy Director, Operations and Implementation provides operational leadership and implementation support for priorities across the Acute Care Delivery portfolio. The position works closely with program, clinical, facility, and Central Office leaders to translate strategic priorities into actionable plans, establish accountability, and ensure timely and sustainable execution.
The Deputy Director leads business planning, implementation, procurement and contracting support, vendor oversight, financial planning, and performance management for assigned initiatives. The position identifies risks, coordinates stakeholders and approvals, monitors performance, and advises divisional leadership on strategies to improve operational and financial outcomes.

General Tasks and Responsibilities Include:
  • Leads planning, implementation, and evaluation of priority Acute Care Delivery initiatives.
  • Develops business plans, timelines, budgets, performance measures, and sustainability strategies.
  • Coordinates cross-functional implementation, resolves barriers, and maintains accountability for results.
  • Leads or supports procurement, contracting, and vendor management activities.
  • Monitors budgets, financial performance, operational metrics, and initiative outcomes.
  • Analyzes data and provides recommendations to improve operational and financial performance.
  • Identifies and mitigates operational, financial, contractual, regulatory, and implementation risks.
  • Partners with internal and external stakeholders to advance initiatives and resolve issues.
  • Prepares executive briefings, reports, presentations, and recommendations for leadership.
  • Leads process improvement and sustainability efforts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Engineering, Health Care Specialization, Physical or Social Sciences or a related discipline; and five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative, managerial and/or consultative experience; or
2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in "1" above; and six (6) years of progressively responsible administrative, managerial and/or consultative experience; or
3. Satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in disciplines, as listed in "1" above.

Department Preferences

  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in health care operations, public administration, program management, strategy, finance, procurement, contracting, consulting, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of health care operations, program implementation, and project management.
  • Ability to translate strategic priorities into plans, budgets, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
  • Experience with business planning, financial analysis, procurement, contracting, vendor management, or related operations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex initiatives and work effectively with senior leaders and diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify risks, interpret requirements, and develop practical solutions.
  • Knowledge of hospital operations, care transitions, utilization management, or length-of-stay initiatives preferred.
  • Public-sector procurement or contracting experience preferred.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives preferred.
