Job SummaryThe University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Deputy Commandant of Cadets. This position is responsible for the administration and supervisory work involving all aspects of the daily operation of the Corps of Cadets. Reporting to the Commandant of Cadets, the Deputy Commandant performs a wide array of administrative and cadet developmental activities that enhance cadet success. Leads by example and maintains a military appearance in accordance with Army Regulation 670-1.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and holds the responsibility of serving as a mandatory reporter for all Clery Act crimes.
For technical support or assistance completing a job application, please contact the USG Service Desk at (877) 251-2644 or [email protected] Responsibilities - Supervise three professional staff responsible for Corps of Cadets operations and support functions: scheduling and planning Corps of Cadets activities; supervising cadet organizations; managing cadet housing; managing student conduct; ensuring cadet academic success; receiving, enrolling, and out-processing cadets
- Supervise planning and executing recruiting and leader development programs, such as National Leadership Challenge Weekend, Cadet Overnight Visitation Experience, Pre-Command Course, Cadet Basic Leadership Course, Cadet Advanced Leadership Course and new freshman recruit orientation group week. Supervise cadet rank selection boards.
- Mentor and coach cadet leadership and cadet staff officers on student conduct, operational, and administrative actions and policies to ensure successful execution of the Corps of Cadets. Responsible for adjudicating Cadet misconduct and as needed, convenes the Cadet Disciplinary Board.
- Ensure consistent alignment of cadet behavior with the cadet regulation handbook (Blue Book) and the university's Student Conduct policies and procedures. Investigate and report instances of cadet misconduct in accordance with Blue Book and UNG Student Conduct policies. When required, work collaboratively with Public Safety and Student Engagement and Success, to address misconduct. Serve as a trained UNG Conduct Investigator and a Clery Campus Safety Authority Member of the UNG Behavioral Intervention Team and Clery Act Committee.
- Assist the Commandant of Cadets in monitoring and informing systems which support staff and cadet requirements in the areas of retention, performance, holistic health and fitness, compliance, special reports, logistics, and others as needed.
- Provide leadership to ensure cadet retention over the 48-month curated cadet experience. Working with the Commandant of Cadets, foster an environment of cadet well-being, growth, and success. Teach, coach, and mentor cadets on personal and leadership development, academic success, purpose, and Corps of Cadets values. Collect and analyze cadet retention data and make recommendations for improving retention. Consult with parents, faculty, and staff on cadet retention to focus resources to encourage and support cadets to persist through graduation.
- Manage relationships internal and external to achieve support for cadet success. Regularly collaborate and engage the Military Science cadre, Dean of Students, Student Health Services, Office of Student Integrity, Housing, Public Safety, and the city of Dahlonega.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Demonstrated performance counseling competency.
- Maintain personal appearance per Army Regulation 670-1. Will wear the prescribed Commandant's staff military uniforms when directed.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree required.
- Former Army officer or Senior Noncommissioned Officer with preference to a retired Army officer.
- Related experience with Army ROTC at the college level.
Preferred Qualifications - Master's Degree preferred.
Proposed SalaryMinimum Starting Salary $90,880.
