Job Description:This role brings deep expertise in the data space-spanning data governance, data catalog, and AI concepts-along with strong command of the broader data ecosystem. That technical depth is paired with solid industry acumen across our target verticals, including Financial Services, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Hospitality and Travel.
The Deployment Strategist drives high-impact deployments at the intersection of data intelligence, AI, and governance, acting as a credible technologist who is fluent enough in both AI and governance conversations to earn trust with business and technical stakeholders alike.
What You'll Do- Partner with account teams throughout the sales cycle as the key technical advisor and product advocate
- Understand a customer's AI/data architecture and pinpoint where Alation fits and adds value
- Lead discovery sessions that surface business and governance challenges
- Own the technical scope of proof-of-value (POV) engagements, pilots, and adoption workshops, driving each to a clear outcome
- Deliver compelling product demonstrations-both full-platform walkthroughs and focused deep dives-tailored to enterprise stakeholders
- Translate AI and platform architecture concepts into terms enterprise stakeholders can act on
- Navigate common data and cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, GCP, Azure) confidently enough to speak credibly about how Alation integrates with a customer's existing stack
- Build a defensible, data-backed value story that links technical capability to business impact, driving evaluations to close
- Bring a working governance perspective to conversations where relevant, connecting technical work to business outcomes
- Partner with account teams to surface expansion opportunities that emerge from your work
What You Bring- Experience: 6-8 years in technical delivery, solutions consulting, or forward-deployed customer-facing roles at data/AI platform companies
- Technical Credibility: Strong understanding of AI technologies, architecture, and the broader ecosystem (LLMs, agent patterns, data platforms). Hands-on development experience isn't required, but you need to be seen as a credible technologist by technical stakeholders
- Platform Familiarity: Working knowledge of common enterprise data and cloud platforms-Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, GCP, Azure-sufficient to discuss integration points and architecture credibly with customer technical teams
- Governance Background (preferred): Prior exposure to data or AI governance concepts, with the ability to translate them into customer value conversations
- Customer-Facing Presence: Proven experience engaging enterprise stakeholders and communicating value to both practitioners and business leaders, pre- or post-sale
- Problem Solving: Able to translate ambiguous technical and business requirements into a clear plan, whether that's an evaluation or a delivery roadmap
- Travel: ~15-30% for customer onsite visits
