The Deployment Specialist will be a part of the Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) program, a cornerstone of the FAA's NextGen initiative, and will serve as a critical liaison between national program offices, site stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure TFDM systems are safely and efficiently deployed in accordance with FAA standards.

This role requires a balance of technical acumen, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and operational awareness to ensure readiness, site acceptance, and smooth transition to sustained operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage TFDM deployment activities across multiple FAA terminal sites, ensuring alignment with the national deployment schedule and technical baselines.
  • Coordinate with local Air Traffic Control (ATC), Technical Operations (TechOps), Engineering Services, and Safety stakeholders to support site preparation, installation, and integration.
  • Facilitate deployment readiness reviews, dry runs, joint site acceptance testing (JSAT), and operational cutover events.
  • Track deployment milestones, risks, and dependencies using FAA-approved tracking systems and contribute to program-wide status reporting.
  • Serve as on-site or remote lead during critical deployment windows, ensuring effective coordination of adaptation, software integration, hardware installation, and test activities.
  • Collaborate with site implementation teams and national program staff to resolve site-specific challenges, including facility constraints, stakeholder concerns, and change requests.
  • Support the development and validation of site implementation plans (SIPs), including staffing needs, facility impact assessments, and contingency planning.
  • Provide operational support post-deployment during stabilization periods and assist in identifying lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA safety, cybersecurity, configuration management, and engineering requirements throughout the deployment lifecycle.

Pursuant to Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12, FAA Order 1600.1F and FAA Order 1600.78 employees are required to submit fingerprints and pass a 7-year background investigation. Employees may also be required to pass a drug test.
