Dental Health Aide Therapist Certified

St Marys, Alaska

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. The Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta is home to thousands of lakes and two primary rivers-the Kuskokwim and Yukon.

Position Summary: Under general and indirect supervision of a supervising dentist, provide clinical dental services within an individually designed scope of practice, and within the priorities of the YKHC Dental Department. To assist in dental prevention and dental health education efforts. Work together with an interdisciplinary treatment team. Provide clinical supervision to dental assistants. Provides clinical and/or administrative support in assistance to the SRC Manager and DHAT Clinical Site Director. Dental Health Aide Therapists are responsible for maintaining their certification and will work with managers and supervisors to ensure that all requirements are met in a timely fashion.

Position Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. They must have a current DHAT certification and current signed standing orders. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Graduate from a Dental Health Aide Therapy training program
  • BLS Certified
  • 400 hours minimum experience
  • CHAP Dental Health Aide Therapist Certification, BLS.
  • Work with potentially hazardous equipment and materials such as x-ray equipment, sterilizers, medicaments, sharp instruments and infectious waste.
  • Basic knowledge of general dentistry, including disease prevention, dental health education, and basic restorative, preventive and surgical procedures
  • Supervise dental assistants at chair side, may supervise EFDHA's with whom he/she is working
