Full Job Description
Covenant Aviation Security (CAS) is seeking an experienced Assistant Director to support and oversee day-to-day aviation security operations at Denver International Airport (DEN). Reporting to the Site Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring the effective execution of operational, administrative, and compliance functions while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, customer service, and regulatory compliance.

This position provides leadership to security operations management teams and is responsible for workforce planning, operational performance, personnel management, regulatory compliance, and client relations. The Assistant Director serves as a key liaison between Covenant leadership, airport stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and law enforcement partners to ensure the successful delivery of contractual security services.

Essential Functions
  • Assist in the oversight and management of all day-to-day security operations at Denver International Airport.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to Operations Managers and other security leadership personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with TSA regulations, airport security requirements, company policies, and contractual obligations.
  • Evaluate operational performance and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and customer service.
  • Develop staffing plans and oversee workforce scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
  • Monitor operational metrics, identify trends, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Assist in the development and administration of departmental budgets and resource allocation plans.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, employee development, disciplinary actions, and succession planning activities.
  • Identify training needs and support the implementation of leadership and operational development programs.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for airport officials, law enforcement agencies, airline partners, regulatory agencies, and labor representatives.
  • Respond to operational incidents, employee concerns, customer complaints, and emergency situations as required.
  • Support contract compliance efforts, audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, and exceptional customer service throughout the operation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Security Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six (6) years of aviation and/or security management experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a security or management role.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience at a Part 1542 regulated airport.
  • AAAE Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Security Certification, or the ability to obtain and maintain the certification within two (2) years of hire.
  • Thorough understanding of airport security operations and the operational requirements associated with regulated airport environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large teams in a complex operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of workforce planning, employee relations, operational performance management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency response situations as operational needs require.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required airport security credentials and access privileges.

Preferred Qualifications
  • AAAE Certified Member (CM) designation.
  • Experience managing large-scale aviation security operations.
  • Experience working with airport authorities, TSA, law enforcement agencies, and labor organizations.
  • Prior contract security management experience.

Physical Demands
  • May require standing, sitting, walking for various, possibly extended periods of time.
  • May be required to climb inside and bend under vehicles for vehicle inspections (example, construction dump trucks, etc.).
  • Physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for their assigned post/duties.
  • Capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion, such as standing or walking/ patrolling for entire shift(s), climbing stairs, running and self-defense.

Work Environment

Depending upon contract requirements and post locations and assignments, duties may be performed inside or outside with variations of climate control and exposure to elements. Some work requires outside exposure, conducting mobile vehicle patrols, and security at exterior gates, loading docks, and other access points to the Airport Area of Operations (AOA). Temperature fluctuations seasonally vary.
