The Role
The Deli Ready to Eat (RTE) Manager owns end-to-end operations of a high-volume deli, prepared foods, and catering production department within our fulfillment center. This role is responsible for leading large teams, driving performance, and ensuring excellence in food safety, product quality, and operational efficiency.
What You'll Do
• Lead daily operations across deli production, slicing, assembly, packaging, and catering in a 7-day operation
• Manage, coach, and develop supervisors and a team of 40 to 60 plus associates, driving accountability and performance
• Drive productivity, throughput, and quality by establishing KPIs and executing against performance targets
• Oversee labor planning, scheduling, and staffing models aligned to volume and budget needs
• Ensure compliance with all food safety standards including HACCP, GMPs, USDA, and FreshDirect policies
• Partner cross-functionally with Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, HR, and Operations to ensure seamless execution
• Lead employee relations including coaching, performance management, and investigations in partnership with HR
• Recruit, onboard, and develop talent, building a strong leadership pipeline within the department
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality
• Oversee equipment usage, safety practices, and preventative maintenance adherence
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support company-wide projects and operational priorities
What You'll Bring
• 5 plus years of experience in food production, manufacturing, or prepared foods operations
• 2 plus years of management experience leading large, hourly teams in a high-volume environment
• Bachelor's Degree in Operations, Food Science, Culinary, or related field preferred or equivalent experience
• Proven ability to lead teams, drive performance, and achieve operational KPIs
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Experience in food safety standards including HACCP, GMP, and USDA
• Experience with production systems or ERP tools such as SAP preferred
• Knowledge of deli operations, slicing techniques, and prepared food production strongly preferred
• English required and bilingual Spanish preferred
• NYC Food Protection Certificate or ability to obtain

$85,000-$100,000
