Overview

The Deli Manager manages Deli Department operations, including scheduling, budgeting, inventory, gross profit and staffing. They provide mentorship and coaching to deli staff, including setting the standard for excellent customer service.

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Sets the standard for excellent, professional customer service
  • Participates in Store Operations Committee (SOC)
  • Manages deli department operations
  • Responsible for ensuring department compliance to all food safety expectations and requirements
  • Maintains a schedule within budget restrictions
  • Achieves gross profit at expected percentage target
  • Keeps productivity in line with current standards
  • Monitors all areas involving budgeting/labor/ordering
  • Organizes day of inventory and days leading up to
  • Provides leadership, coaching, direction and development to all deli staff
  • Has the desire to develop deli product knowledge, both in specialty foods and prepared foods
  • Mentors and facilitates training of staff
  • Interviews new candidates and manages staffing responsibly and within department budgets
  • Ensures that department sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards are met
  • Looks ahead to possible opportunities for growth and change in shopping patterns

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service
  • Successful experience in managing high-volume food service, including a background and knowledge in prepared and specialty foods
  • A high level of awareness of health and safety codes and the ability to implement systems to maintain compliance
  • Strong production cooking, recipe development, and kitchen management experience required
  • The ability to demonstrate organizational and planning skills
  • Computer knowledge and skills including Microsoft Office programs
  • Schedule writing experience required
  • The ability to multitask on an ongoing basis
  • Excellent leadership, teambuilding, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings and weekends
  • Must be willing to accommodate transferring between PCC locations as needed, depending on the needs of the company
  • Must be able to meet physical demands including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion, and lifting 10-40lbs regularly
  • A current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health is required
  • If hired into this role, a Certified Food Protection Manager certification (for example ServSafe) is required (paid for by PCC)
  • If hired into this role, a CPR/First Aid Certification is required (paid for by PCC)

Physical and Environmental Workspace

Work occurs in an office, a variety of off-site environments and in a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise level, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer, and depending on location, working outside in all temperatures. There may be exposure to certain allergens and / or chemicals.

Comp Details

Starting Wage Range: $80,200-$87,350/year, depending on experience. Bonus Eligible
