Position Title: Defense Personal Injury Litigation Attorney
Salary Range: $145,000-$180,000 / Year, DOE
This Defense Personal Injury Litigation Attorney will independently manage a caseload involving general liability, auto liability, premises liability, property damage, and construction-related injury matters while communicating directly with carriers, claims representatives, and insureds.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with at least 3 years of defense-side personal injury litigation experience who is highly responsive, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of their work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities - Independently manage a caseload of defense-side personal injury and general liability matters
- Handle matters involving auto liability, trip-and-fall claims, property damage, and construction-related injuries
- Draft motions, responsive papers, pleadings, reports and other litigation documents
- Prepare summary judgment motions and manage matters through key litigation milestones
- Communicate directly and consistently with insurance carriers, claims representatives, insureds and clients
- Appear in court and effectively represent clients throughout the litigation process
- Manage deadlines, maintain accurate case documentation, and ensure work product meets the firm's quality and formatting standards
- Partner with dedicated paralegal support while taking full ownership of assigned matters
Requirements - 3+ years of experience handling defense-side personal injury litigation
- Strong general liability experience required
- Active admission to the New York State Bar
- Experience with auto liability, premises liability, construction injury, bodily injury and/or property damage matters
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage a litigation caseload and report directly to insurance carriers
- Strong legal writing, communication, organization and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and standard technology used in a modern legal practice
- Ability to learn established firm systems, processes and workflows
- Proactive, responsive and comfortable receiving constructive feedback while continuously improving
