Job Summary
The Dean of Retention and Engagement provides leadership and guidance for Academic Advising, Testing Services, and the New Student Orientation program. In partnership with the Associate VP of Enrollment and Retention, the Dean develops strategies for student retention, engagement, and student success.
Essential Duties
Provide leadership and guidance for Academic Advising, Testing Services, and the New Student Orientation program.
Advance the College's mission, vision, and values by fostering a student-centered culture in which all students feel welcomed, respected, connected to the College, and supported in accessing the resources and services necessary for their success.
Coordinate the ongoing operations of an integrated student services approach to the access, retention, and completion of students.
Oversee the planning design and implementation of training and professional development activities for designated departments.
Collaborate with the Academic Affairs and Student Success leadership, student services staff, and other college administrators to provide campus leadership such as oversight for the campus Student Success Center.
Develop budgets and exercise financial oversight for designated departments.
Coordinate marketing programs, services, events, and outreach activities associated with retention and engagement.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution required in Student Affairs, Counseling, or related area.
7 or more years of significant administrative experience in supervision of personnel in student services areas of higher education.
Record of leadership experience.
Demonstrated ability to analyze progression across the student lifecycle, identify factors that influence persistence, retention, and completion, and use data to inform and evaluate strategies for improving student success.
Commitment to the flexible nature of the Community College in serving students with different backgrounds, abilities and purposes.
Evidence of the ability to coordinate diverse programs related to student services.
Experience with the design and implementation of assessment and evaluation measures, budgeting, project management, federal compliance-related laws and activities, higher education leadership, student grievances/concerns, strategic planning, and testing services and student assessment programs.
