Description Summary:
Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University located in Huntsville, Alabama, seeks a dynamic leader to serve as Dean and Research Director of its College of Agricultural, Life, and Natural Science.
The College of Agricultural, Life and Natural Sciences (CALNS) is comprised of five academic program units and awards baccalaureate, Master's and doctoral degrees in agricultural and related sciences.
The Dean and Research Director of the College will report to the University's Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The candidate will be expected to perform all his/her duties in a manner that will demonstrate a commitment to the university's motto of "Service is Sovereignty."
Examples of Duties Duties and Responsibilities:
The principal duties of the Dean and Research Director will include administering and providing leadership for all aspects of academic and research programs and activities of the College. This will include securing extramural funding to promote the mission and growth of the College, promoting faculty advancement, student recruitment and retention, and maintain high academic and professional standards. The Dean and Research Director will provide leadership and vision, and foster relationships with local, state, federal and international agencies as well as private organizations.
Typical Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):
- Must hold a terminal degree from an accredited institution in a discipline within the agricultural, natural and related sciences; possess a distinguished record of scholarship and teaching, and five (5) or more years of higher education administrative experience at the chair level or higher. Candidate must have qualifications and experience for faculty appointment at the rank of full professor.
