Full Job Description
This position reports to:
Sales Manager

Adapts and implements sales support strategy for a designated area in accordance with the global support strategy. Ensures technical and commercial support for internal and external customers. Oversees estimations, bids, and proposals ensuring alignment with ABB standards and targets. Leads, develops, and coaches the Sales Support team.

As the Distributed Control Systems (DCS) Business Development Driver for the Pulp & Paper local Business Line for North America, you will be responsible for supporting the sales of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) solutions for new system opportunities as well as upgrades and expansions to existing systems.

The work model for the role is: Remote/Hybrid work model.

This role is contributing to the Automation business unit with Process Industries (Pulp & Paper) North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creating and conducting product demonstrations, training sessions, and sales technical presentations for customers and the P&P sales team.
  • Supporting the ABB P&P Automation Roadshow for DCS focused visits, and developing the most technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Developing long-term migration plans for existing DCS installations.
  • Managing proposal generations, bid specification responses, and pricing ensuring alignment with ABB standards and targets. Assisting with or preparing DCS proposals.
  • Interfacing with internal suppliers and factories relative to pricing, deliver requirements and technical questions.
  • Working with sales management and the sales team to ensure that annual DCS order volume targets and profitable growth targets are achieved. Participating in sales risk review process for large opportunities.
  • Ensure the required technical support and clarifications are provided to the Sales organization during technical meetings, product presentations, and negotiations with customers.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Science (Engineering, Automation, Process Controls, etc...) or a related discipline, with 7+ years of relevant experience; OR Associate's degree with 9+ years of relevant experience.
  • Significant experience with Distributed Control Systems is required. Experience with ABB's 800xA DCS preferred. Experience with ABB's legacy DCS systems (Advant and/or Bailey) is a plus.
  • 2+ years experience working within the P&P industry as a supplier in a sales related or service support related role is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a sales support or direct sales role is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including ability to present complex technical information to customers required. Competency using MS Office products with strong skills using Excel.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Time off

ABB provides 11 paid holidays. Vacation is provided based on years of service for hourly and non-exempt positions. Salaried exempt positions are provided vacation under a permissive time away policy.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $100,000 and $140,000 annually and is bonus eligible.
