Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, operate, and maintain engineered and tested database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Database, and other relational database platforms
  • Configure and support highly available and clustered database architectures aligned with DR and COOP requirements
  • Monitor database performance, capacity, availability, and service‑level indicators to identify trends, prevent incidents, and ensure optimal user experience
  • Perform Tier 2 troubleshooting, incident analysis, and break/fix support across all assigned database systems and environments.
  • Execute scheduled and ad hoc maintenance, patching, updates, and upgrades within authorized change windows
  • Manage database access controls, role assignments, permissions, and delegated administration
  • Conduct backup, restoration, and data‑migration operations for both standalone and clustered database environments
  • Support stakeholder DBAs and mission application teams by configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting database connectivity and performance
  • Enforce security and encryption policies for data at rest and in transit across all database systems
  • Analyze requirements, concepts of operations, and architectures to ensure deployed database solutions meet availability, reliability, and resiliency objectives
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams and Government stakeholders to refine database-operability and service requirements
  • Work independently or in small teams to perform updates, upgrades, maintenance, and operational tasks across multiple networks and security domains
  • Contribute to Beta testing, Acceptance testing, and Blue/Green fielding strategies for new engineered solutions
  • Coordinate with Tier 3 and Engineering resources for advanced troubleshooting and remediation efforts
  • Utilize Lab facilities for incident investigation, design validation, and feasibility testing of database enhancements
  • Develop test cases and scripts to ensure complete test coverage for database components prior to deployment
  • Produce SOPs, knowledge base artifacts, documentation, and compliance materials that support operational activities
  • Provide continuous patch management across designated systems
  • Provide information and coordination for approved POA&Ms and other compliance artifacts
  • Participate in Continual Service Improvement (CSI) efforts and evaluate emerging technologies for potential enhancement of database services

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must hold a current Top Secret SCI clearance with ability to obtain poly prior to start
  • DOD 8140 Certification applicable to role (minimum Security+)
  • Microsoft Certified SQL Server Engineer, Microsoft Certified Azure Database Engineer, Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate, IBM Db2 Database Associate, or equivalent
  • An AA and 10+ years of experience, BS/BA and 8+ years of experience, MS/MA and 6+ years of experience, or PhD and 4+ years of experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience integrating, operating, and maintaining IT hardware and software solutions
  • Experience supporting relational database platforms in operational environments, including troubleshooting, tuning, patching, monitoring, backup/restore, and data‑migration activities
  • Experience implementing and maintaining clustered or highly available database architectures
  • Experience performing Tier 2 support in multi‑network, multi‑domain operational environments

Desired:

  • Degree in Science, Technology, or Engineering
  • Experience supporting mission environments with 24/7 operational requirements
  • Experience performing Acceptance testing, DR/COOP integrations, and Blue/Green deployment activities
  • Experience working in lab environments to validate designs, test new configurations, and perform root‑cause analysis
  • Experience collaborating with engineers, technical writers, and Government stakeholders on documentation and operational requirements
  • Experience supporting database‑driven mission applications and coordinating with customer DBAs
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification
