The Opportunity:

The CIS program supports our intelligence customer deliver IT services to conduct its globally distributed operations. We are driving an exciting technological transformation of customer IT services by leading the design, development, implementation, and operation of cutting-edge solutions. This includes continuous service improvement through the modernization of IT system infrastructure.

CACI is looking for an experienced, innovative, and motivated Storage Engineer to support the mission objectives and needs of the customer, the Defense Intelligence Agency. In this role, you will be a key technical member of our engineering team and contributor to designing, delivering, and maintaining our enterprise storage architecture. You will collaborate with our operations teams and government stakeholders to analyze and design system architectures, establish robust capacity and performance baselines, and execute comprehensive Analyses of Alternatives (AoAs) for emerging technologies to define the IT future for the customer.

The position is contingent upon award of the DIA SITE III CIO Infrastructure Services (CIS) contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze software versions, patches, and upgrades for compliance and implementation timelines

  • Incorporate physical security of data at rest and in transit into all designs, tests, and implementation guidance

  • Design disaster recovery plans and backup/archive procedures to ensure continuity of operations with minimal effect on data

  • Create reports and metrics for performance/data usage using office automation applications

  • Test and facilitate the accreditation of new solutions and major upgrades to obtain Interim Authority to Test (IATT) and Authority to Operate (ATO)

  • Develop wiring diagrams, boundary diagrams, SOPs, security information, installation and upgrade procedures, and other required documentation

  • Analyze requirements, Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), and system architectures to create detailed infrastructure and data center designs in line with program vision and objectives

  • Collaborate with Operations teams and Government stakeholders to refine requirements and ensure availability, reliability, resiliency, and operability objectives are well understood and achievable

  • Research optimal design characteristics and conduct Analyses of Alternatives (AoAs) for objective, informed decision-making on technology and service options, feasibility studies, and proofs of concepts

  • Incorporate capacity, performance, and other service-level metrics into designs for optimal user experience and infrastructure utilization

  • Work in small teams or independently to produce engineering and design artifacts, test cases, training materials, and supporting documentation, including CONOPS, while providing team guidance and technical leadership where appropriate

  • Research new technologies and capabilities, articulate the benefits of integration into current infrastructure ecosystems to stakeholders, and conduct objective AoA and trade-off decisions as a key member of Continual Service Improvement (CSI) and innovation activities

  • Use Lab facilities to promote experimentation, technical investigation, and feasibility validation of proposed designs and equipment

  • Develop test cases and scripts for unit and system tests across all designs and configurations, using Lab facilities to ensure complete test coverage and positive outcomes before readying components for deployment

  • Support the transfer of engineered solutions to Operations teams throughout acceptance testing, Blue/Green fielding, and early production use to ensure smooth operations during initial fielding

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting, repair, and optimization services to Operations teams for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) components within areas of desktop solutions experience

  • Develop and execute IT equipment strategy covering assessment and planning, vendor evaluation and procurement, implementation and deployment, governance and oversight, compliance, and risk management

  • Deliver end-to-end engineering transition support to ensure seamless handoff of engineered digital infrastructure from development to ongoing operational maintenance

  • HS and 12+ years of experience, an AA and 10+ years of experience, BS/BA and 8+ years of experience, MS/MA and 6+ years of experience, or PhD and 4+ years of experience

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience designing, integrating, validating, and implementing IT hardware and software solutions

  • Experience in storage design concepts/processes related to efficient allocation, provisioning, configuration, security, and throughput

  • NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) – ONTAP or equivalent OEM vendor certification (Required)

  • Willingness to learn new skills and new technologies

Desired:

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics

  • Familiarity with IC ITE services and classified environments

  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification (or higher)
