Job Summary
We are seeking a Database Engineer - Recovery & Cyber Resiliency to support the recovery of mission-critical database platforms during cyber events and large-scale outages. This role focuses on database recovery engineering, cyber resiliency, disaster recovery planning, and operational readiness. The ideal candidate will have a strong database engineering background with experience designing and implementing recovery strategies rather than performing traditional database administration.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and support database recovery and cyber resiliency strategies for mission-critical systems.
• Develop backup, restore, replication, failover, and disaster recovery solutions aligned with Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) requirements.
• Support database recovery across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Hadoop, graph databases, and other enterprise database platforms.
• Facilitate recovery readiness through recovery testing, tabletop exercises, and cyber recovery simulations.
• Collaborate with database administrators, infrastructure, application, security, and business continuity teams to ensure recovery preparedness.
• Automate recovery processes, validation checks, health checks, and resiliency reporting using scripting and automation tools.
• Support and troubleshoot dependencies involving authentication services, DNS, certificates, and Linux/Windows environments.
• Provide technical leadership during major incidents, disaster recovery events, and cyber recovery operations.
• Continuously improve recovery procedures, resiliency strategies, and operational documentation.
Required Qualifications
• Experience with enterprise database platforms including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Strong understanding of database recovery engineering and cyber resiliency principles.
• Experience designing and implementing backup, restore, replication, failover, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Solid understanding of Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) concepts.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery planning, recovery orchestration, and automation.
• Familiarity with authentication, DNS, certificate management, and related infrastructure dependencies.
• Understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Hands-on scripting and automation experience using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting cyber recovery exercises or ransomware recovery planning.
• Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture, immutable storage, and cyber vault concepts.
• Experience implementing cloud database resiliency solutions across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of enterprise backup automation, monitoring, and configuration management tools.
• Experience working in highly regulated environments with strong audit and compliance requirements.
Certifications
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
• Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate.
• AWS Database Specialty Certification.
