Full Job Description
As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for working within a software engineering team to design and develop software solutions utilizing an Oracle database backend. You'll be creating new relational database models, improving, and extending existing models, and writing queries and stored procedures in collaboration with other database engineers. You will be responsible for making decisions on partitioning, indexing, and structure to ensure the product performs optimally and reliably under demanding and diverse use cases.

LOCATION: this is a hybrid opportunity with the requirement to commute to the Lincoln office twice a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement moderately complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to support product features and reporting needs.
  • Optimize existing database structures, queries, and indexes to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Perform regular data quality checks and resolve data integrity issues across systems.
  • Support application developers by advising on data access patterns, query design, and schema usage.
  • Contribute to relational data modeling decisions, including table design, relationships, and constraints.
  • Participate in code reviews for database changes and uphold team coding standards and documentation practices.
  • Investigate and resolve database-related defects, escalating complex issues with clear analysis when needed.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of schemas, procedures, and changes.
  • Mentor and support Database Engineer I team members on day-to-day tasks and tools.
  • All other duties as the business requires


Requirements

This position currently follows a hybrid schedule requiring two days per week in our Lincoln, Nebraska office. Onsite requirements may be adjusted based on business needs and company or departmental policy.
