About This Opportunity

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for performing all aspects of Database Administration on Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL database technologies.

This may include system administration, troubleshooting, analysis, testing, research, training, general problem solving, technical support and testing/deployment of new systems. Designing and implementing back-up, recovery, archiving, conversion strategies, and performance tuning. The Database Administrator is responsible to define and develop database standards, policies and procedures and optimizes database by providing solutions utilizing new database features and functionality along with varying levels of project management, as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain multiple DB Server environments in Azure, On-Prem.
  • Partner with other Database Administrators in support of database services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security and performance required by our business systems.
  • Set up centralized monitoring, executing scripts, patches, backup reports, status reports and performance monitoring.
  • Monitor system's health and performance
  • Ability to think critically to diagnose and resolve on-going incidents and problems.
  • Performance troubleshooting and resolution
  • Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time
  • Handling daily issues (Blocking, long running Transactions, Deadlocks, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot issues related to TempDb, Transaction log and System databases
  • Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery
  • Scheduling database backups, taking full and Transaction log backups.
  • Automate SQL server tasks (SQL jobs, Powershell scripts, etc.)
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Flexible, team player, "get-it-done" personality
  • Perform appropriate Change Management duties to comply with IT policies and procedures.
  • Report progress on a weekly basis of status on all assigned work tasks in a written report.
  • Ability to work during non-business hours including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Ability to work in On-Call rotations.
  • Experience and understanding of DBA and/or other systems management experience in the area of database development and operations in data center and SaaS/public cloud environments.
  • Experience in integrating database environments as a result of M&A activities; integration of work teams resulting from M&A activities.
  • Knowledge of programming languages helpful
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain databases Solid and modern source control practices, including Git and merge request flows.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Server Operating System and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Obtain any of the SQL or Database certifications

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience as a Database Administrator on SQL Server
  • Experience with SQL Server 2016 or higher
  • Experience with Windows Server 2016 or higher
  • 2 - 3 years of experience with MySQL DB Administration
  • Powershell scripting experience
  • Project Management experience
  • TSQL development experience is a plus
  • Understanding of, and experience with relational database environments
  • Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices
  • Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives
  • Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Technical documentation skills
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
