Position Description

Position Overview

Reports to - Corporate Controller

We're hiring a sharp, curious, and systems-minded technologist to own and evolve our cloud-based technology environment. This isn't a helpdesk role-it's a hands-on, high-initiative position for someone who wants to build, integrate, and optimize tools that power a best-in-class construction company.

You'll take full responsibility for our software stack, systems architecture, data strategy, and tech roadmap. You'll lead projects that improve decision-making, simplify workflows, reduce friction, and create measurable ROI across all departments. You'll also be our internal guide on how to use AI tools effectively, ensuring we stay on the cutting edge of what's possible-and profitable.

We run entirely in the cloud and use tools like Google Workspace, Vista by Viewpoint (SQL backend), Agtek, Leica ConX, Bluebeam, Slack, Microsoft Office, and more. We're moving toward a unified identity management platform with Azure AD, SSO, MDM, and consolidated communications. You'll lead that evolution.

This is a self-starter role for someone who wants to dig deep, get nerdy, and take full ownership of our systems, integrations, dashboards, automations, and user experience. Over time, this role evolves toward Director or CTO depending on business growth and ROI delivered.

Key Results:

  • Strengthen system ownership and architecture
  • Advance data strategy and reporting
  • Establish practical and scalable AI systems
  • Drive adoption and enablement across team

Core Responsibilities:

Systems Ownership & Architecture

  • Evaluate, select, and implement cloud-based tools, integrations, and system improvements
  • Design and execute a unified, role-based permissions environment with full MDM, SSO, and BYOD support
  • Lead the transition to a streamlined phone and communications platform-one number per employee, intelligently routed to desk, desktop, or mobile based on needs, with AI-driven transcription, call quality, ease of management, and cost efficiency top of mind

Data Strategy & Reporting

  • Develop and optimize SQL queries and data connections to extract insights from Vista and other core platforms
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards that provide real-time operational visibility and better business decisions
  • Reduce manual reporting and eliminate data blind spots across functions through automation and integration

AI Systems Strategy

  • Stay current on AI tools across categories (document review, summarization, scheduling, code generation, data visualization, etc.)
  • Vet and implement the right AI tools for specific business needs-measuring ROI, usability, and organizational fit
  • Build internal fluency in AI usage by educating the team and documenting best practices

Adoption & Enablement

  • Support teams in adopting and using tools correctly-with the goal of simplifying work, not adding complexity
  • Design workflows that match our real-world processes and reduce system workarounds
  • Translate between technical systems and business needs across construction, finance, estimating, and administration

Position Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working with cloud systems, data integrations, and enterprise tools
  • Proficient in SQL and experienced writing queries and building reports from ERP systems (Vista by Viewpoint a strong plus)
  • Strong skills in Power BI-data modeling, DAX, and user-focused dashboard design
  • Deep familiarity with cloud ecosystems including Google Workspace, Azure, Microsoft 365, and identity management
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in AI tools and how to use them effectively for real business outcomes
  • Experience (or curiosity) with construction or accounting systems is highly valued
  • Able to self-manage projects from concept through execution, including evaluation, rollout, and user training
  • Excellent communicator who can connect the dots across teams and explain complex systems simply
  • Naturally curious, highly organized, and motivated by building things that last
