What you'll be doing The Information Security Data Security team helps protect the organization’s data by strengthening governance, managing risk, and advancing security capabilities across the enterprise. As a Data Security Consultant, you'll play a key role in shaping and maturing data security frameworks, standards, governance, procedures, and controls that support the organization’s broader security strategy. You'll work closely with technology teams, risk management, compliance, legal, data owners, and business stakeholders to help ensure regulatory requirements and enterprise security objectives are understood and achieved. In this role, you'll balance governance and oversight responsibilities with technical advisory support across key data security domains, helping teams apply practical and effective controls in modern data environments. You'll contribute to strategic initiatives, guide control maturity efforts, and help create a strong, sustainable approach to protecting sensitive and regulated data. How you'll succeedGovernance and standards - Develop, maintain, and enhance data security frameworks, standards, procedures, and control requirements that support enterprise objectives and regulatory expectations. • Risk and compliance oversight - Assess data security risks, review control effectiveness, and support oversight activities to help ensure alignment with internal policies, standards, and compliance requirements. • Technical advisory - Provide guidance to technology and project teams on data security requirements, control design considerations, and leading practices across cloud, analytics, and emerging technology environments. • Capability maturity - Support the evolution of enterprise data security capabilities, including data discovery platforms, Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) solutions, and controls supporting platforms such as Databricks and Microsoft Azure. • Cross-functional collaboration - Partner with technology teams, risk management, compliance, legal, data owners, and business stakeholders to align security practices with business needs and enterprise priorities. • Continuous improvement - Identify opportunities to strengthen governance, improve oversight processes, and enhance the organization’s overall data protection posture. Who you areYou have relevant experience. You bring 5+ years of experience in information security, data security, cyber security, risk management, compliance, or a related field. You have experience working across both governance and technical advisory responsibilities in a complex environment. • You understand data security governance. You have knowledge of governance frameworks, control design, risk management principles, and compliance expectations, and you can apply that knowledge in a practical and business-focused way. • You know modern data security capabilities. You have experience with data discovery platforms, Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) solutions, Databricks, Microsoft Azure, and data security considerations related to generative artificial intelligence. • You're a collaborative advisor. You build strong relationships across technical and business teams and can translate complex security requirements into clear, actionable guidance for different audiences. • You think critically and make sound recommendations. You can assess issues, identify control gaps, and recommend solutions that support both security objectives and business priorities. • You have the right foundation. A degree or diploma in Information Security, Cyber Security, or a related discipline is preferred. Professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), or Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE) are considered an asset. • Values matter to you. This role has an expected salary range of $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 for the Chicago market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
