Responsibilities

The intelligence community generates more data than any analyst can process alone - and that's exactly the problem Peraton is looking to solve. We're seeking a Data Scientist to join USCYBERCOM J2 at Fort Meade, MD, building the AI tools, ML systems, and predictive analytics capabilities that turn raw data into decision-ready intelligence.

In this role, you won't just analyze data - you'll engineer the systems that make analysis faster, smarter, and more scalable. From recommendation engines and automated lead scoring to Multi-INT analytics and large-scale data fusion, your work will directly expand what USCYBERCOM's analysts can see and act on. What You'll Do
  • Conduct data analytics, data engineering, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis in support of USCYBERCOM J2 intelligence operations
  • Use scientific techniques to correlate data into graphical, written, visual, and verbal narrative products that enable more informed analytic decisions
  • Proactively retrieve and analyze information from diverse sources to deepen understanding of complex data sets
  • Build AI tools that automate intelligence processes and develop ML-based systems such as recommendation engines and automated lead scoring systems
  • Perform statistical analysis, apply data mining techniques, and build high-quality prediction systems
  • Develop and update data visualizations using Power BI and Tableau
  • Manage and merge disparate data sources using R, Python, or SQL
  • Apply expertise in large data Multi-INT analytics, machine learning, and automated predictive analytics
  • Collaborate with Data Analysts and Collection Managers to identify tool development needs and prioritize capability gaps
  • Author and maintain Operating Instructions (OIs) for Command-wide programs and initiatives

Required:

  • 12 years w/o a degree or 10 years with AS/AA or 8 years with BS/BS or 6 years with AS/AA or 3 years with PhD
  • Working knowledge of data science methodologies, machine learning, and IC/DoD classification guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to produce timely, logical, and concise analytic reports and data products
  • Proficiency in data science languages: R and/or Python
  • Experience with data visualization tools: Microsoft Power BI and Tableau
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences

Preferred:
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, R, Python, and SQL in an intelligence or national security context
  • Background in large data Multi-INT analytics, machine learning, or automated predictive analytics
  • Experience managing and merging disparate data sources across classification domains
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis methodologies and data mining algorithms
  • Knowledge of IC data standards and intelligence community data architectures
  • 12+ years of relevant experience, including work within the last 2 years
  • Master's degree in a related field - or a Bachelor's degree plus 5 additional years of senior-level experience (17 years total)

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
