TD's Analytics, Insights and Artificial Intelligence (AI2) team provides consultative support with data & analytics-based business insights and/or solutions to guide decision making and/or strategic planning. AI2 is an exciting team to be a part of as we are transforming how we provide key insights and opportunities for our business partners to better serve our customers.
The Wealth Operations Data Science team supports the day-to-day activities of the Wealth businesses, working with business partners to address their analytics needs by providing end-to-end support of reporting, analytics, insights, and artificial intelligence solutions.
Job Description:
As a Data Scientist III, you will be a technical delivery leader responsible for shaping, building, and sustaining analytics and AI capabilities. You will lead complex and innovative initiatives from opportunity identification and data discovery, through analytical solutions development, validation, deployment support, performance monitoring, and ongoing sustainment including optimization.
The leadership team will rely on your deep technical expertise, strong ownership, and delivery leadership. You will translate business needs into refined and scalable requirements for data science solutions, guide cross-functional partners through technical trade-offs, and ensure AI capabilities are designed and delivered to meet key AI2 & Wealth Operations objectives.
Some of the key responsibilities of this role include the following:
Performance & Operations Analytics
- Develop advanced analytical solutions / approaches to identify drivers of operational performance, uncover trends, and generate actionable insights across Wealth Operations.
- Provide recommendations to improve workforce effectiveness and operational outcomes
- Assess the impact of business initiatives and operational strategies using data driven methodologies, scenario modelling, forecasting, test and learn & experimentation to support informed decision making.
- Translate business problems into structured analytical problems and conduct ad-hoc analysis including root-cause analysis and impact analysis to address business problems
Technical Solutions & Operationalization
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable analytics solutions, decision support tools, dashboards, and visualizations that enable business partners to make data driven decisions.
- Use Python, SQL, Power BI, Databricks, Visual Studio Code and AI enabled capabilities to automate analytical workflows
- Partner with various technology, data engineering, and business teams to operationalize processes and improve adoption.
Innovation & Leadership
- Apply sound judgment, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills to address complex business challenges and identify innovative opportunities
- Stay current on emerging trends in analytics, AI, Agentic AI & Gen AI while contributing thought leadership and mentoring team members
Ad-hoc Analysis
- Translate business problems into structured analytical problems and develop practical solutions
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis including root-cause analysis and impact analysis to answer business problems
Stakeholder Management
- Present analytical findings, recommendations, and business insights to stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership and executive audiences, through effective storytelling, visualizations, presentations, and executive briefings.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or Computer Science); graduate degree preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in data science, analytics, business intelligence, or a related field.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Python, PySpark, SQL, and Databricks.
- Experience with GitHub, Visual Studio Code, and version control best practices.
- Experience developing dashboards and visualizations using Power BI.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience working with large, complex datasets.
- Strong understanding of data structures and the ability to translate technical data into business insights.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical mindset and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated flexibility, agility, and sound judgment in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Wealth Management, AI product application in operational performance analytics is considered a very strong asset
